Boxing: Fights coming up

Linares/Lomachemko was a phenomenal fight, Loma is most probably the best pound for pound fighter around at the mo. He has incredible boxing skills and amazing footwork. Some very tasty fights for him like Gervonta Davis or Mikey Garcia.

Agree with that, though he needs to stay away from Mikey Garcia. I want that fight to be made as it would be a cracking fight, right up until Garcia knocks him out.

Tyson Fury beat a boxer called Francesco Panieta tonight in farce of a fight as a warm up to a supposed match up with Deontay Wilder. I can only see one winner if this fight takes place, Wilder would be too athletic and too strong for Fury and if Fury turned southpaw during the fight then someone save him from Wilder's right hand.

Incredible second fight between GGG and Canelo. I thought GGG won, can't see how any judge could give the last round to Canelo. Credit to Canelo though, he came with a different strategy to the first fight, stood toe to toe with GGG and pushed him back, surprise for a counter puncher, Canelo has an amazing chin as does GGG.

In April last year, Joshua defeated Klitschko which led promoter Eddie Hearn to announce that AJ v Wilder must happen in 2018.

Yet here we are on the eve of Joshua’s last appearence of the year and still no sign of the Wilder fight.

I really hope that this match up does not go the same way as the Mayweather v Pacquiao potential fight where both men avoided each other at all costs until both were past their best and merely looking for a decent payday.

I notice that AJ has Wembley booked in April next year with an opponent yet to be announced.

Maybe. Just maybe ?

Hope you're right RR.

Will be interesting see see AJ vs Povetkin, can't see anything other than an AJ win.

Wow! What a finish from AJ. He did really well after a dodgy end to the 1st round to then settle into the fight and get the measure of Povetkin (literally, as he was stepping out of range of the Russian's shots in the latter rounds).

Whoever wins the Battle of the Gobby B'stards (to paraphrase a Game Of Thrones episode title!) on 1st December has surely got to sign to face Joshua at Wembley on April 13. Unfortunately, if its Wilder there's probably no chance of it happening, as he seems to be running scared of AJ with no intention of fighting him (just like Riddick Bowe refusing to fight Lennox).

For that reason I hope that Fury can get into something like top shape, as if so I reckon he'll outbox Wilder and have too much ringcraft for him, and he wouldn't then duck out of facing Joshua. (.....although would Eddie Hearn allow his golden goose Joshua to fight Fury?!)

Really enjoyed the fight tonight. It is possible to underestimate Joshua. Povetkin was a seriously good fighter and really dangerous and skilful. Yet Joshua rode the setback of nose injury, learned how to take Povetkin punches and the low punches to the body that seemed trivial were not. They did for Povetkin ultimately allowing the explosive end.

I semi worry about Joshua's nose. He has a recurring problem and needs to get it fixed. Otherwise there will be an occasion where he can't overcome it or it gets damaged worse and worse and worse.

Why am I enjoying boxing!?

Good win by AJ against a tough opponent in Povetkin who'd never been down in his pro career. Must say AJ looked at least three weight classes bigger than Povetkin.

Mouthwatering prospect of a meeting between Wilder and AJ, hope that's what the 18th April date at Wembley is reserved for. Will come down to who can land the first bomb.
