Injuries ?

The last I reported on Sam Foley on OVF was back on 27th October and was:

"Injured midfielder Sam Foley will undergo surgery and may face the prospect of three months out of action..."

(so that would mean an end of January return, I guess)

As for Anton Forrester, the Sentinel reported on the 22nd November:

"Port Vale manager Bruno Ribeiro fears striker Anton Forrester could be out for another two to three months after the 22-year-old suffered a repeat of his hamstring injury in tonight's 2-2 draw at home to Oldham..."

I've not seen anything on the time frame that Purkiss is out for..

Who is the most frustratingly injury prone player that we've had? Got to be a tie between Lee Matthews and Michael Walsh, hasn't it?

From slightly further back there's also Paul Atkinson (injured almost from the word go) and Gareth Griffiths (like Walsh, he surely would have been a big money sale if he'd stayed fit).

Got to be mr h. Robin Hulbert coming in third maybe?(All relatively recent players too), I can't remember too many from the 90s being regular sicknotes? Ian Armstrong would perhaps get the award for 'Not being able to last 90 minutes' although he did play fairly regularly

I suppose we actually got one of Matthews' better seasons out of him if you look at his career. 10 goals in 20 games or so the first season he was with us and that spectacular effort from the half way line at Hull!

Walshy was definitely the single most unlucky player in that regard. His injuries robbed him of a truly wonderful talent
