Paedophile coach at Crewe?

This will be very damaging to Crewe, as who would let their kids go to a club who it could seem failed to deal with this years ago and even now seem to want it to blow over.

 

They probably thought it had blown over and the fire had gone out... but a breeze has rekindled the ashes and from the smouldering embers a fire of great proportions is raging... and it will get bigger.

I know I keep banging on about Stoke, but I think they'd be well advised to make some sort of comment on this soon. They surely can't make Crewe's mistake and just hope it wont affect them with the passing of time. Now is the time to fully explain the role he played there. He wasn't an "associate" he didn't simply talent spot for them, he was their youth coach for years on a damn good wage. Similarly Stone Dominoes, it was under their name that I went on a trip with Barry as our coach, and I'm pretty sure it would have been with Dominoes that he travelled to the US and carried out the first offence that he was arrested and imprisoned for in 94.

 

They should simply clarify his role there, state whether or not any allegations have been made at this point for alleged offences during his time there, and pre empt any kind of intense media speculation. If no offences have been alleged yet, they should still look to carry out some sort of investigation of their own. Don't have this "come out of the blue" (what rubbish that is from Crewe) like it did for Crewe. Be proactive and find out what went on during his time there. Burying your head in the sand doesn't work, Crewe are an example of that.

He cherry picked the best players out of each age group and took them to his other team, Stone Dominoes. I was training with him twice a week, once with Stoke and once with Dominoes. Both of those places employed him, apparently Stoke were paying him £70k and he earned an income from Dominoes too. I was 11/12 at the time.

There are literally hundreds of local lads that will be in their mid to late 30's that were coached by Bennell at Stoke and Stone Dominoes, never mind before that at Crewe and Man City. Stoke selected 6 of us for trials from our ladsandads team. We all made it into the School of Excellence and a few of us went on to play for him at Stone too. I wasn't good enough in the end so left Stone and refused to go back to Stoke after that. Couldn't see the point as he was still the coach there and obviously didn't think I was good enough. I'm just fuming that so many lads were put in harms way unnecessarily when people clearly knew what he was up to.
