Searching Before Games

No problem being searched I understand the reason and accept it, what I don't understand is how Liverpool are allowed to take flags on poles in the Kop, also stoke friends of mine complained about the crushing when they went, I would hope that club above all others would be safer and not take risks, no problem with rules as long as they apply to everyone.

It would make a bit more sense if everybody was searched every time they enter a shopping centre, underground system or anywhere else with large volumes of people.

That's not the case, so naturally people question it. It's not a question of moaning!

It's hilarious people are malanga about the club taking security measures. Some folk will literally whinge about anything, pathetic

SOT is full of whingers, that is the main problem.

Agree with you both on this one, I have absolutely no issue with being searched at all, & have trouble understanding the complaints from those who do. Regardless of who you are/what you look like, if anything ever happens or goes wrong, everybody will be complaining about the one person not searched, so...

Yeah but logistically that is a nightmare, whereas at organised events when it's on a smaller scale, it's not that big of an issue.

Where's my post gone?

I tried to edit/re-do my reply whilst quoting you & may have ended up getting rid of both in the process somehow, apologies! Been using my phone on the app recently & it's not as plain as my computer either...

What I meant to say was, I'm not entirely sure what your point is, I mean I know they don't generally search at places like the theatre or smaller venues right now, but when you're talking about things like a shopping centre or underground system, it's on a much bigger scale, & you've got to keep track of people constantly going in & out as they please too, so it's not as simple as doing it at Vale, where people mostly go in, stay for 2 hours & then leave.

Fair enough apology accepted, my point was you said it would be a logistical nightmare( maybe not word for word) and I said when was the last time you saw 5000 people at a cinema or theatre, meaning it's more of a nightmare searching the far bigger crowds at a football game.

Well they seem to manage it yeah, on a once/twice a week basis for an hour or two, so places that hold occasional events are a lot easier regardless of the size (the searching at 100K+ festivals is still only a 4-5ish hour stint on a single day).

But when you're talking manning an entire shopping centre like the Bullring etc 7 days a week for longer hours, the wages/manpower start to stack up, & it's not money 'well spent' for the companies either, as they don't get any return on something like that. Not really feasible.

I assume the security patrols are paid out of the centre service charges, serious problems handled by the police as a public order/safety operation. CCTV and live monitoring is also likely. Football has special reasons unfortunately, although how it is managed can vary between clubs.

I remember people moaning about the X-ray scanners at airports. I got scanned leaving San Francisco and the only way to describe it is: I stood like a scarecrow for 15 seconds, a person who I could not see (& could not see me in the flesh) possibly saw my junk but I was not a security risk & neither was anyone else passing through. I think if you moan about that you're either very precious, overly concerned about the size of your tickle stick or a terrorist. Either way you need a reality check.

It's 2017, the world has it's fair share of bad people and we need to deal with it. Man U have a specific anti-terrorist expert now, which I presume is where all thus comes from.

Tonight I took a small holdall with me with a few bits and bobs for the weekend as I'm stopping at my parents after the game.

I've got no problem with the bag being searched, that's fairly normal. But tonight was the first time that they've looked at my deodorant, decided that it's an offensive weapon and confiscated it off me. It was the look they gave me as well.

I mean, really? Really?

I'm now going to stink for the whole weekend thanks to our jobsworth stewards thinking that someone's going to sabotage a League One match with about half a can of L'Oreal Men Expert.

1) If you wear L'Oreal Men Expert you'll still stink but in a different way..it's not pleasant ;)

2) Buy another one after the match somewhere

3) Maybe the steward stank and wanted to smell nice for later

4) Admittedly it does seem a little OTT
