Glenn Oliver not to seek re-election

 

North London Valiants cautiously welcome the announcement that Port Vale board member Glenn Oliver will not stand for re-election at the next AGM.

 

Port Vale fans and shareholders have had statements regarding, resignations and 'investments in the pipeline', previously from their club. Sadly, in the past the rhetoric has been strong but there has been little of any substance.

 

It is hoped that on this occasion that words will be translated into actions but until that change is effective, and a promise has been made that directors previously voted off by the shareholders (Mr Jackson and Mr Meigh) will not be placed back on the board, then the status quo remains.

 

Trust between the fans and the board is irrevocably broken. Trust can not be earned by issuing a statement - real change in the leadership of the club and a complete break from the past will need to be proved before the club can move forward.

Mark Sims endorsed the feelings of the fans in wishing to see both Mr Bratt & Mr Oliver resign before joining the board himself. Spokesman for (NLV) Malcolm Hirst said

 

"I'm sure the fans will be pleased that Mr Lloyd seems to have recognised the fact that Vale fans wish to see Mr Bratt and Mr Oliver resign. It would seem appropriate for the wishes of the shareholders to be recognised, and Mr Lloyd to speak with Mark Sims and facilitate access for full due diligence to enable Mr Sims to take up his seat on the board".

 

When this point is reached then unity will be a real possibility, and not until.

If Bratt and Oliver wanted Simms on the board as they claim, why did they reject his proposal of their resignations when they both seem to be walking away anyway? Same old bull****, something is going on! If they are being honest, why not just tell MS this?!

I will wait until the new investment is announced, and I'm satisfied BB and GO are on their way, until I return to any home games, just hope it will not be long, so I can put my golf clubs away.
