Finally home & able to post, really enjoyable day out despite it being a 0-0!

Won't bother with much detail as a lot of my thoughts have been echoed on here, but really positive first game I thought, lots of improvement needed but some great defending, Grant/Knops looked quality, Mbamba had a good game I thought when he came on, Cicilia bit disappointing but I honestly think he needs someone alongside him, no use on his own yesterday. Had we had Page in charge I think we would have lost that, despite a few good chances for Bradford I didn't think we looked like we would lose though. Good stuff, can't wait for next week!

Finally, got this from our Snapchat if anyone isn't on there!

I think there were positives for both teams yesterday. Morals and particularly Marshall were decent, you have to admit he did put some decent balls into the box and think he would fit in well into our team. But, as I've said elsewhere, we were solid and defended every cross well. The ref was slightly frustrating, there was one blatant tug on Cicilia in the 1st half that was a penalty all day long from where I was sitting and he seemed to get penalised every time he jumped for the ball. Hanson on the other hand was allowed to get away with murder and was all over Smith and Streete on numerous occasions. A couple of other observations....1/ thought the white shirt, yellow shorts and socks combo looked brill, can we keep it permanently? 2/ stewards were generally good natured, but policing seemed totally OTT, particularly the guy and his mate running around with the video camera outside the ground generally pouncing on visiting fans for no apparent reason Quite ridiculous. But all in all, enjoyable day out, decent ground, crowd, easy to get in and out of, competitive game, encouraging signs.

Grant outstanding and fingers crossed we keep him.

Bar Tavares the best players were those with us last season. But a point at Bradford is good one and I remain slightly optimistic.

I get the impression that Norman thinks he is worth more to the club on the field than what any club will pay for him, even if it means he goes for nothing at the end of the season.

Well done lads a good result. Not much for their number 6 & 22 a lot of shirt pulling plus falling over for reason at all except to cheat.Grant was man of the match. He was the best player on the pitch. The whole defence it self was a LOT better than last season.

We must have had the longest police escort ever after the match. All the way to Saddleworth moor.Even police bikes blocking off the on / off slip roads as the coaches went past. Not sure why that was needed as I'm not aware that there was any trouble anywhere.

Yeah and all at 30 mph as well, even the 30 odd miles on the motorway, all at 30 mph. Incidentally, anyone on here on the coach that broke down outside the ground? Just interested to know if you all got home ok.

Morning,

I thought I'd give me views on yesterday's game.

Firstly, a response to the posts I have quoted.

When I saw our line up yesterday for the first time, I was adamant I would see a defeat. It was incredibly weak. We had last years midfielder playing at right-back. We had a CM playing CB (Vincelot), and a youth prospect making his first senior debut in midfield, even though the games he's featured in-in pre-season, he played at LB. Our better striking option wasn't fit enough to start the game (Hiwula), and most of yesterday's starting XI hadn't seen much game time. It meant that we were missing 5 players, from what I would deem our strongest starting XI.

Irrespective of our make-shift team, I felt disappointed not to have come away with 3 points, given our first half performance alone. You couldn't get near the ball for most of the game, and naturally, as the game wore on, fatigue hit our injury-stricken side, and you started to make the most of the game in the latter stages.

I applaud Vale for attempting to play football, but given a more direct approach in the second half, you actually looked more threatening when doing so.

In addition, I know you have a number of foreign players on your books, and to be honest, I'm not sure how many of them started yesterday, but, a lot of your players went down incredibly easily - and thankfully, the ref didn't fall for it (who had a decent game himself, I might add).

As a whole, that team we fielded yesterday is and probably will be our weekest we'll field all season - and it doesn't take off any gloss from your perspective on me saying this, either - as I saw enough for from your team to believe you'll stay up this season - as I recall you're one of the clubs favoured for the drop.

Lastly, decent attendance again - okay atmosphere. Good numbers from Vale, but I must say, I didn't hear much from my seat in the KOP.

We were missing our best left back who was out injured. So we played a CB as our left back. Our best striker was not fit and not in the squad, and our winger was not match fit. Our right winger was also a central midfielder. So we didn't have our strongest team out either!

Would be interesting to know just what the logic of that was.

Why so far?

Why blocking off on / off slip roads with police bikes?

Why so slow on the motorway's?

Must have cost a fortune.

I sometimes think you must try to read something different to what I actually said, just so you can get angry. My point was that it was great smith played, and should have played, but he probably wouldn't have if Adams or page were in charge. I expect Duffy would probably have resigned or someone else would have been brought in ahead of him.

No mate, i literally, simply, just asked the question of do you think bruno likes the look of nathan smith, i dont see what being angry has to do with that.

I couldn't care less about the next game in the Tin Pot Trophy, so what would everybody's team be against Southend at VP next Saturday? I think at home we really need to be starting with 2 up front. Even if Kiko is fit there's no way he should go straight into the side after such a solid performance from Klops. For me -

Alnwick

Purkiss

Streete

Smith

Knops

Thomas

Grant

Tavares

Foley

Cicilia/Forrester

JJ Hooper

Firstly we can all quote players playing out of position (we had a centre half playing at left back) so none of that's really relevant as it's the 11 v 11 that are put out. Secondly you suggest you deserved the 3pts but most neutral reports and the stats don't support this. For all your possession you only had one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes and our keeper had a relatively easy afternoon.

A point a piece and we both move on to the next game and I'm sure we can both improve.

The Vale cannot turn the money down when there is the chance of playing a minor Prem team in the next round
