Matchday thread: Bradford City v Port Vale

As much I enjoyed the drive home yesterday with a point on the board and a clean sheet, I can not believe that supporters who went and watched us yesterday are so upbeat. Let's be honest we were very very lucky to get that point. The back four played heroically against a rusty Bradford attack. I would imagine that if we were to play them after half a dozen games we would lose. Grant was the main reason we got the point. He was battered by Hanson a few times and just got on with game putting in so many tackles and coming out with the ball. An awesome performance which kept us in the game.

Of the new foreign legion I was only impressed with Knops especially as he was playing in a role that is not his natural position, and surprisingly Mbamba, who after reading posts about him after our friendly games, was better than I was expecting.

It is going to be a long hard season on that performance as there were hardly any positives going forward.

I will be surprised (pleasantly) if we beat Carlisle on Tuesday.

Before the game I was worried that we might well get hammered considering some of the views on here, however came away very reassured. Even the argument, can theses foreigners fight when the going gets tough was put to the test and passed against a physical Bradford side.

We're we fantastic going forward, no far from it, and yes agreed if we carried on playing like that every game, we would prob only just stay up. However fans need to remember, this was the first game. I saw enough in Defraitus and Tavares eventually, to realise that once settled and upto speed with the English game they will be very good players and certainly no worse than what we have lost.

Likewise going forward 1 upfront didn't work yesterday and as a result of not been able to hold the ball up top, it meant we surrendered loads of Possesion. However I'm sure Bruno took the opponents into consideration and the fact a draw would be a excellent result. He is already aware of the need for more creativity and hopefully will bring that in, before the loan window closes.

We have a squad of 34, the season has just started and we still need more players. Is there actually a plan "A"?
Something like 10 players will be sent out on loan for development purposes, a winger and a striker are planned to be brought in on loan.

Bore off. I honestly believe had we got thumped yesterday you would have felt rather pleased with yourself.

Rz is one of a handfull of vale fans who would prefer to see us lose so they can say I told you so. When we win he amongst others won't be seen on the match day thread.

Edit:just like they weren't seen on backing Bruno and the boys good luck thread for the same reason.

No Vale fans want to see us lose. Some Vale fans have concerns about the current direction of the club. They are perfectly entitled to hold such an opinion without being castigated for doing so.

It's think you will find limp donkey started by belittling all other vale fans by dismissing their opinions and views

You are most welcome to believe what you like. I want to see us play exciting football and win.

like the exciting football page's men displayed against fleetwood yesterday and drew 1-1 to a team who narrowly escaped relegation last season? for a 0-0 it was one of the better 0-0's ive ever watched tbh, did you go?

Sorry completely disagree. Especially with your line that if half a dozen games had been played then they would comfortably win. How did you work that one out? Most of our team were on debut and loads playing their first match in England. I'd expect us to much stronger after half a dozen matches as well! Imo Tavares was impressive and so was de Freitas. Peraira also when he came on.
