Popes goals won us promotion and that's the player we will always remember. Tom was always a yard short on pace and after his injury it was 3 yards. Whilst speed was never his forte a certain level is required. In his last year at the Vale we could see his powers were in decline and when he left for Bury and collected a considerable wage rise I wished him all the best .I also hoped that Smurf had made the right decision and it wouldn't come back to haunt us. Smurf was right and it hasn't.
