Looking at what's gone on in the area and round the corner from me last night, I'm not too hopeful unfortunately. There was a fire which commanded 5 fire engines and 50 police* which is splashed all over the local rag.

 

Things are a lot better than they were but its still all very tense, and I think tomorrow as a decision day isn't enough time and I wouldn't be surprised if it is called off.

 

Friday could be a busy night with it being weekend, but lets hope it isn't :)

It is less about the Barnet area it is more about the wider Metropolitan Police area. They need all their resources for high risk areas and that is the risk to our game, I think all London games will be called off

Not necessarily. Just some people using rumours, or isolated incidences as part of the 'riots'.

 

The Sainsburys and Shopping Centre near mine has been smashed, the storage room behind a local church was set on fire, but its not to say its related to the riots, as its more likely random acts of violence as a result of the riots/opportunism.

 

Listening to some people in Stoke on Twitter, going way OTT that 'riots will happen' just because there's more serious riots going on in other cities, actually affecting other people. It's ridiculous. In a way its insulting to the people that are affected, and people in some areas using rumours/incidents as a way of getting their area on the map for exposure. BBC have quite openly been @ mentioning people on Twitter asking for phone numbers so they can go on air.

 

So yes, I think a lot of exaggeration has taken place, politicians wanting to protect the police budget (and they should IMO), will capitalise on recent events. Things are quieter now but over the weekend I still think the Met will want to err on the side of caution.
