Smurf has also said he's working on bringing Campion back to the club.

"any chance of @AchilleCampion coming back for preseason Norman? Bruno could give him a chance with the continental style"

"Working on it he was not treated fairly during his 1st spell with us"

I'm really not sure that Campion was up to it, but wasn't he a Smurfthwaite signing anyway rather than one of Page's?

Blimey - signing a fee for someone! That'll make a change.

What are we paying? Two bob? Sorry, I couldn't resist it! :innocent06:

Campion was unfit and spent over a season earning money for nothing. Did anyone see anything warranting a 2nd chance? He was hopeless. He had enough game time. I remember his performance in the Preston game where he did nothing except lose the ball.

Made Kyle Perry look like Lucas Podolski.

I believe it was compensation for jj hooper?

i personally believe campion just wasnt good enough.

Agreed. John Harbin banged on in his programme column about what a good trainer he was but Page didn't give him a second of playing time.

According to roy hodgson raheem sterling was good in training........................so let's shut the door on that one, being good in training dunna automatically make you good enough. It's the equivalent of being good in a job interview, but crap at the job, with the connections (potentially) bruno has, cant we surely do better than campion, forget about him and move on...

So, it's Rob Page not treating him "fairly" says Mr Smurthwaite... and there was me thinking that Campion (sadly) just wasn't good enough and a manager made a sound judgement call.

What else will Rob Page be blamed for?

The Vale Park mineshafts? The lack of pies at half-time? England's exit from Euro 2016? The poor summer weather?

It kind of begs the question that if he was really as bad as he's currently being portrayed then why did Norman appoint him and erm, why didn't he sack him?

Smurf's comments on Page since he left smack of a smear campaign after the fact. Not sure what he's trying to achieve. If it's to impress Vale fans with how right he (Smurf) is, it ain't working with this one. It just looks petty, small-minded and unnecessary. They're probably both happy they don't have to work together anymore so just move on.
