A shame, but change is part of football and although I rate Dodds, inconsistency is his biggest problem and we could replace him. I fully expect Dodds and O'Connor to leave, but all of the out of contract players WILL talk to other clubs (if the other clubs will talk to them !) as it would be insane not to.

 

To some extent, who we bring in is far more important than who leaves this time, as most people were expecting Okey to go anyway. It would be nice to hang on to AJLS and Andoh though.

It will be an insight into the mood amongst the players if Doddsy leaves since he always seems to be part of the action. I cant see why we would want Inman, Crwho? have done really well this season.

 

It never ceases to amaze me that some judge every single individual player based on their clubs performance. On that basis we wouldn't have Foley (who I thinks had a very good season). Equally we wouldn't want 18 goal Williams from Doncaster?

There are good players to be had from the relegated clubs.

Just the start of our club being raped by other clubs for the players we currently have or waiting to hear about accepting their reduced contracts.

 

No doubt they will go as other clubs will offer them more money than Vale have and the chance to play for a club which has some vision about where they want to be.

I really wont lose much sleep if all those out of contract leave(there are one or two i would like to sign) BUT we would have to replace them with better and being honest for the wages we are now going to pay i cant see who would come.

 

I just hope Smurf says to any new manager that he is going to back him like he did with Page when he was first appointed manager

Dodds, the invisible man. Turns up in one game out of two. No great loss provided he's replaced with better quality - which I doubt given the actions of Mr. Austerity, Norman Smurthwaite.

This is the time to rally round and support the club, not to argue about the merits of the chairman. manager or individual players. I don't notice any of the moaners or critics coming forward with offers of financial assistance (perhaps they can't or have been stung before) but I do know that there about 3,000 true supporters who will attend matches come what may and most of them will buy season tickets or 10 match tickets if that is not practical. Unconditional thanks to Norman Smurthwaite for all he has done for the club and continues to do and to Rob Page for his work for the club. My regret is that we shall have another new manager who will inevitably want to bring in his own players so some of the ground work by Page and his team will be wasted.

We don't need characters in the dressing room, we need players on the pitch. And there's better than Dodds out there - if we're prepared to pay for them.
