Chris Neal - A difference in opinion???

The ideal scenario IMO would be to get a decent fee for Alnwick and keep Neal. Not going to happen though, as Alnwick probably needs longer before any club makes an attractive enough offer.

Perhaps only with their fans what the management think of him is another matter. You've only got to look at opinions on here and what Pagey actually does to see that.

I think Jak Alnwick is a good keeper. He has come in for some critcism recently. I was frustrated with him following team orders to kick left in a previous game.

 

On Saturday he was accused of conceding 4 goals from outside the box on Radio Stoke. Let me say, sat right near the goal first half, he was peppered with some extraordinarily good and very powerful shots by Walsall and made some excellent saves. And I mean extraordinary, I have not seen repeated out of box shooting like that in my near 40 years of watching Port Vale. Overall I think he is more agile than Neal and has slightly more talent. He is less good at commanding on crosses and possibly exposed by less experience.

 

I don't think Alnwick and Neal can be compared at the moment. I feel Neal is coming back and missed most of the season. He would need a pre season here or at Bury to restore him to his correct level of fitness. I feel it is right for Neal to move on. He needs to play at his age and Page has committed to Alnwick who I think is good now and will get better.

jak Alnwick is younger than Sam Johnson. He's the same age as "crewe's next big sale" Ben Garrett, Some folk seem to expect to much of this "youngster". Yes Chris Neal has been brilliant for this club but Jak is our future. Ray Williams loves to moan about Jak on the radio and many seem to follow suit. Yes he conceded 5 v Walsall 2 of which were fantastic strikes. The other 3 came from more than jak not being able to stop it going in.

If he's our future then we are doomed, i had more confidence in Jonny Brain we simply must find a keeper this summer with good league experience I recommend a guy called Chris Neal but I doubt we can afford him.

That's exactly my thoughts- Neal good, Alnwick better going forward.

 

The same people who are moaning about Jak are presumably the ones that wanted Neal shipping out after Brighton knocked us out of the cup a few years ago.

Jak has had a fine season.

He has been called upon way too many times. This results in the odd mistake.

To blame him for the Walsall goals, you dont know what youre talking about.

Lets get behind the lad and the other young lads who could also step up a level next season.

Scandalous that anyone can knock him.
