2016/17 fixtures

Recommended Posts

I see that, instead of being released all at the same time as usual, the Football League fixtures are being released on 22 June, one week after the Premier League fixtures (15 June).

This means that we'll know one week before our fixtures are released whether we're at home or away on Boxing Day, New Year's Eve (which falls on a Saturday), first game, last game, etc just by going from the opposite of Stoke being home or away on a particular date. (although there's bound to be one or two fixture clashes with us both being at home throughout the season)

If Stoke are at home for their first game on 13 August, then we'll be away that day, and so we would be at home for our first game as the Football League starts the week before (6 August).

Why not just release all the fixtures the same bloody time.

Why does the FA do anything!?! The Football League is very much an afterthought to the powers that be- at least they're showing a bit of transparency for once!

because we're competing with the all-powerful, very rich Premier League and they must always be first and foremost (at least that's what the Premier League say).

I suspect they'll probably do their usual trick and threaten to withhold "solidarity" payments if the Football League kicks up a fuss...

Apparently League 1 last day is 30 April, one week before The Championship & League 2 finish. Probably because they've had to arrange the L1 Play

Why cant we have ordinary league 1 matches in May instead of stupid tuesday night fixtures in freezing February with minimal crowds ? Start the season earlier and finish it later, and if the tired little darlings must have a break make it a couple of weeks late January.
