2011 - Port Vale vs Crawley Town

5889 including 474 visitors

Total = 5415 home fans

2010 - Port Vale vs Chesterfield

6444 including 459 visitors

Total = 5985 home fans

2009 - Port Vale vs Rochdale

6216 including 716 visitors

Total = 5500 home fans

2008 - Port Vale vs Accrington Stanley

6643 including 108 visitors

Total = 6235 home fans

2007 - Port Vale vs Bristol Rovers

6808 including 1770 visitors

Total = 5038 home fans

So today was our worst first home attendance (in terms of home fans attending) since 2007 which was the season we got relegated.

Each has it's own reason of course.

2008 is an anomaly due to the target 5,000 campaign. 2010 was higher due to winning away at Bury and QPR in the two games previous.

2007, 2009 and 2011 are the only compatable fixtures there as they were all normal pricing and were also the very first fixture of the season. Looks like Vale have gained a few fans since 2007, which you would have expected to be higher due to the team being in a higher league. The target 5,000 campaign is probably responsible for those fans staying. Good to see they haven't stayed away either.

You'll damage those straws. Put them down.

The crowd today was reduced by the early start to the season with people on holiday. Also, in assessing the effectiveness of SEO there is another factor to take into account. Some people will increase spending to support the club more. I bought a clock in the shop today, and last week a tee-shirt

I know, shame the season didn't start in September like it normally does :rolleyes:

Judging by your quote. Lets for instance say their was 30 people spread over the 60 seats per row (over 2 blocks). from the front row where people are sitting to the top of the stand is approx 25 rows. Therfore.

25 Rows x 30 People = 750 fans.

hmmmmmmm.

He keeps quiet about it. He lets Lozza take all the stick for it.

I wouldn't treat her like that.

I don't need a man to fight for me thanks. Can do it on my own.

Besides some would only moan if he did stick up for me.

I don't think this test is the most reliable way to test if SEO is working.

At the end of the season before last Adams had just taken over and we made a late push for the playoffs and ended the season on a high, so the attitude at the start of last season was alot more optimistic. Compare this to the end of last season where we ended on a real low.

Also attendances are obviously affected by how well the team is doing and last season we had a pretty good start so obviously attendances were going to be pretty good. You can really only compare the attendances if we have a similar kind of start.

On top of that, it's another season in league 2 with pretty much the same team as well as higher ticket prices.

So todays attendance being lower than the attendance at the start of last season was to be expected and doesn't really prove anything.

Last season the attendances for the first homes games (League only) were

6444

5750

5360

5777

8443

6420

8607

5587

5681

5163

That takes us to beyond the Xmas period

The average after the first 5 games was 6355 and after 10 games was 6323 (so not much deviation)

So please bear these numbers in mind as a comparison when thinking about id SEO is a success or not as we see the attendance figures for home league games over the coming season.

The moment there is a home game with lass than 5000, alarm bells should start to go off that SEO is working and going to be hitting the board - lets hope they see sense and bail out in time to rescue the season and our club!

Sounds like the SEO brigade are backtracking somewhat. Fot the last few weeks they have been on OVF trying to convince themselves that they represent the VAST majority of Vale fans.

So perhaps these keyboard warriors will now accept that they are very much in the minority and review their strategy?

Know when you are beaten because you will not be missed at VP but please be sure to let us know what the pies are like at Leek Town and Kidsgrove won't you?

Eh, some people seem to be screaming at protestors for not going to the game and others are now saying that they won't be missed

Make up your minds, eh?

I'm passionately anti-board but I felt SEO wasn't the right choice for me. I want to be there for Micky and the players that wear the shirt, and felt the cheapest way for me to do that was to get a season ticket. It wasn't an easy choice but I don't regret it.

That is bo***ks Mark. Wasn't an easy choice but you bought one more or less straightaway!

If you want to go to games for those reasons then fair enough and good luck to you, but for you to stand next to me for weeks singing you can stick your season tickets up your ar** and then buying one the first day they go on sale, sort of tells me you are a hypocrite. Don't deny the above either because we both know it happened.
