The attendance for the Walsall friendly will also be an interesting yardstick

http://www.port-vale.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10381~2405701,00.html

Port Vale 1-1 Walsall 30/07/2011

Attendance: 1,101 including 218 visiting supporters => 883 vale fans

Struggled to find the attendance for last year's comparable fixture, but eventually found -

http://upthesaddlers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?p=834240

"152 Saddlers in a crowd of 1,325" => 1173 vale fans

- for same fixture last season (31/07/2010)

883/1173 = 75%.

Last season the attendances for the first homes games (League only) were

6444

5750

5360

5777

8443

6420

8607

5587

5681

5163

That takes us to beyond the Xmas period

The average after the first 5 games was 6355 and after 10 games was 6323 (so not much deviation)

So please bear these numbers in mind as a comparison when thinking about id SEO is a success or not as we see the attendance figures for home league games over the coming season.

The moment there is a home game with lass than 5000, alarm bells should start to go off that SEO is working and going to be hitting the board - lets hope they see sense and bail out in time to rescue the season and our club!

Let's hope we are in the same position

There are other factors here too, the increased admission price for one. The start of last season there was optimism based on the strong finish of the season before, this time it was downhill in the latter part of the previous season.

On the other hand, the return of MA and signing Pope and some interesting new players might balance this a bit.

It isn't an easy comparison.

What we need to know is the 'home fans' who attended the first 5/10 home games.

Then a comparison can be done.

Where's Phil Sherwin when you need him!

I'm here! Home fans only.

Chesterfield 5,985

Torquay 5,535

Aldershot 5,149

Accrington 5,596

Shrewsbury 7,259

Gillingham 6,132

Crewe 7,211

Wycombe 5,323

Burton 5,151

Cheltenham 5,005

Yes, we know your business plan is based on blind hope and populist kneejerk reactions.

Keep on pretending SEO isn't working tho, until your fingernails can't hold on for a second longer.

Do you actually read what people post ? My post did not say that at all, so now you have not only invented a quote out of thin air last week, but twisted what was being said in this one. A moderator I had private discussions with after your last stupid accusations agreed with me, so perhaps you'd like to carry on with your ridiculous posts and I might just make an official complaint.

The post I made didnt say a thing about SEO, just that many factors are in play - I happen to think SEO is making a significant impact. I don't agree with it, as I don;t want the club damaged whoever is in charge.

I think gates will be lower this season, for a number of reasons, partly due to a poor finish and the disappointment of not making the playoffs.

Please try reading before you let your fingers loose, and don't drag me into your personal wars with board members or whoever.
