The true impact of SEO?

Last season the attendances for the first homes games (League only) were

6444

5750

5360

5777

8443

6420

8607

5587

5681

5163

That takes us to beyond the Xmas period

The average after the first 5 games was 6355 and after 10 games was 6323 (so not much deviation)

So please bear these numbers in mind as a comparison when thinking about id SEO is a success or not as we see the attendance figures for home league games over the coming season.

The moment there is a home game with lass than 5000, alarm bells should start to go off that SEO is working and going to be hitting the board - lets hope they see sense and bail out in time to rescue the season and our club!

Do you think the club will give a true attendance figure.;)

The first fixture v Crawley may attract a decent crowd. Accrington and Southend will give a more realistic picture. I think both those games may struggle to reach 4000.

SEO!!

Agreed, the board are totally reliant on us having a great start. Unfortunately for them we have the League 2 title favourites followed by the League 1 title favourites at Vale Park then 2 away games. If we lose to both Crawley and Huddersfield, anything less than 4 points from the 2 away games and I can see the Accrington gate being closer to 3,000 than 4,000. The attendance for the Walsall friendly will also be an interesting yardstick - normally we'd see around 1,100 for this match, it's a safe bet to be in the hundreds this year.

=== If the walsall game is less than a 900 then that will set around 4000 for the crawley game.

Some good attendances there, and some brilliant games, people think that because I'm anti STO that I'm not anti board! I very much want this board gone and want to see every vale fan supporting the team when they have:)

Mate as soon as they are gone then im back through them turnstiles as much as i begrudge £20.50 for the paddock. I can't wait for the day!!======

I imagine the average attendance for the first five home games will be less than 5 thousand and that's a conservative estimate. I suspect it will be closer to 4500 ish.

So no gates of 8,500 or 6,500 then this season....as 2,000 signed up for the SEO and the season average was around 5,500 then the realistic view would be a season average under 4,000 and once the season is over long before christmas it will be down to around 3,500.

If the club have sold 3000 ST, 1000 pay on the day and the away following it will be pretty poor whatever. This of course will decrease if the team do not perform. It would be interesting to see what the break even figures are for this season but whatever that is, I am sure it will be well below by 1.5-2k
