Euro 2016

So everyone else thought it was a poor final and a poor tournament apart from you. Surprise surprise. You really are pathetic enough to say things just to go against the grain, aren't you?

.

There are at least 3 people who found things to like about it, and your opinion does not matter, like any tournament some parts were better than others but overall it was enjoyable.

To those who say it was badly organised - you probably have no idea of the anti-terrorist work that went on. People were generally kep[t safe, that's what matters. End of.

...Still, Wales were magnificent against Belgium. Match of the tournament without a doubt.
Most enjoyable, the other shock was Iceland but not so enjoyable as we lost. Maybe the Vikings will be as famous as the Mexicans for a while.

These tournaments are always defensive and have been since 1970, counter attacking football is the name of the game, even in the group stage if a team lose one game it's tough to recover as there are no "weak" teams anymore.

The tournament was OK, a couple of outstanding games but an absence of any standout magical players of the likes of Cruyff or Maradona etc. The pundits trump up the likes of Pogba, good player but not fit to lace up Cruyff's boots and worth 100m, wow.

Great to see the Welsh do well, made the tournament for me, I always "support" the British Isles teams. England have to do well in one of these tourney's someday.

I said around 2-3 weeks ago portugal would win, simply because they got so far and havent even been that good all tournemount, i really really regret not putting ten or twenty quid on them now, all in all, personally euro 2016 isnt a tournemount i will remember that well, it was poor, i think the crowd trouble will be remembed more.

I can't see how anyone would not have found some enjoyment and entertainment in the competition, despite the awful England let down.

Lots of goals worthy of great players, a few thriller games, certainly there were a lot of late goals and surprises galore, with Wales deserving all the credit they got, Iceland and Portugal too.

My only real disappointment was the failure of Holland to qualify - they were badly missed, both team and their wonderful 'oranje army' of fans. It just didn't seem the same to have a major competition without them as I can never remember one before. I hope they rebuild and come good for Russia 2018.

Mixed feelings about the expanded format of 24 teams - it does allow some smaller nations a bit of glory, but they may as well go the whole hog and have 32 teams and 8 groups with the top 2 going through, the third place thing did cause some cautious play early on.

Finally, much as it will hurt some who probably hate the French just for being French, they DID organise it well, and almost certainly as someone else said, performed a good anti-terrorist operation which must have been incredibly difficult.

The fact that terrorism barely got a mention is testimony to the French security services doing this good job, as the safety of all is the number one priority at any event anywhere.

I've just looked back and can't see you saying it!

My Portuguese mate told me they would, I thought he was talking crap too! ;)

Extra time likely, I'd say, going to bet on a draw and remove small chunks of profit in-play cashing in as it goes, if possible.[/QUOTE]

Lovely massive profit on the final (the above posted before it in reply to For Us All recommending betting on Ronaldo and Griezmann to score), which I'd like to dedicate to sourpuss dogbreath Beechy and his enjoyment of Euro 2016.

That is often a good bet, start with say £5 on 0-0 and £5 on a draw in matches where it is likely to be tight, then use the In-Play facility to take some partial cash-out on Betfair as the odds lessen, taking most of the 0-0 by about an hour, will often give a good win. Best to cash half of the draw profit after 80 minutes to avoid late goal heartache - this worked a TREAT at the Euros in about 5 games.
