I dont think its all that reasonable to compare this proposal to one that was never even signed and was proposed in a totally different economic environment.

Exactly why we should not be selling stadium sponsorship for such a small amount, wait for the climate to change then do it, but don't do it for half of Bill Bratt's wage.

The Pit-annia stadium deal was for £1.3m over 10 years including shirts and hoardings, but that was over a decade ago. Don't know what the renewal value was!

When York City, however, had their ground sponsored (The Kit-Kat stadium, remember that) I believe it was an annual rolling contract @ £100k per season.

That was a pretty good deal for york, to be fair. It was 50k a year for 4 years, for stadium name, mascot name and character rights (yorkie the lion), and sponsorship signage around the ground and inside the club.

Although they havent been able to find anyone to take their place after the deal expired.

This is ridiculous you can't rename the stadium every 2 seasons, thats so embarrassing. Also £25k is laughable.

If you are going to rename the stadium it would have to be for a serious amount of money and for a long term deal like 10 years. Else everyone will just keep calling it Vale Park.

I long for the day that Port Vale will be run by professionals, instead of every week reading another example of amateurism by our leaders.

Recently we've had advertising boards, exec boxes and the whole catering services sold off for a pittance. Now the entire history of the ground is going to be flogged for a measly £25k.

The HELL continues...

Is it really? I beg to differ. It's helping to destroy the club I give you that.

Yeah!! Bluddy SEOers!! You'r stopping the board from making a profit like they did for the last few years, you're stopping us from signing the big names we are used to, you are not bringing in investment like the board want. SEO is ruining the wonderful work the current board have done since taking over. Booooooo SEO!!! ****ing booooo!!

 :D

May have been because Rowntree weren't based in York any more and Nestle didn't care.....
