Pre season positives.

Vale have 100% record in pre season games.

Although this was against teams in a class well below league two status in which games against U.S.A. clubs might be included the wins should give a boost to the Vale squad's confidence.

Would the confidence have been boosted more if games against higher league positioned clubs had been arranged to give a better test to them?

Crewe players must be overjoyed with their results with wins against Derby and Wolves and their confidence really lifted, making them raring to go.

Which fans do you think are the more excited with pre season results, Vale or Crewe?

Crewe without a doubt.

A 2-1 win against a english team in the blue square wasn't really what you would want and with them scoring.

Probably a more realistic view on how things could probably turn out for us in L2 with a lot better sides than halifax and a bunch of american college teams.

All wins are good but some are better than others.... far more satisfaction beating a team equal or better.... dont really see the pre season as a positive or a negative to be honest.... much ado about nowt... as Shakespeare said... or he would have done if he came from Bozlem

Settled down after the 1st 5 minutes to dominate. We kept the ball really well without creating too many decent chances. 2nd half they kept the ball a bit better as we seemed to tire, they made a few changes, we didn't until 10 mins from the end. Both goals came from headers.

Most had reasonable games, the back 4, Griff & Lofty. Roberts was okay 1st half but tired 2nd, Green was pretty quiet, but made a few decent runs, Rigg and Dodds to 1 dimensional up front.

This was a quote from another thread. After settling down to dominate to me it seems to go downhill a bit "Kept the ball without creating many decent chances","we seemed to tire in the 2nd half", "players had reasonable games", "pretty quiet", "to 1 dimensional upfront".

Tired already surely isn't good and it sounds a bit like last season, haven't really got enough in the bag...

A few years ago, Vale had an excellent pre-season and went into the season buzzing. They then went on to get relegated with a terrible points total.

Our best season in recent years (the 1st season under Adams) was preceded by a relatively poor pre-season from what I remember. There may even have been a defeat to Newcastle town in there.

In short, pre-season results mean nothing. It's an opportunity to get the players back up to full-match fitness. Unless they're getting drubbed 6-0 every game, manager's are usually unconcerned by results.

Crewe by far have had the better work out this pre season against some challenging opposition. Where we have some unheard of us college teams

also all Marc Richards keeps tweeting about is how tired and jet-lagged he is which is always good to hear from your top goal score before the start of the season... confidence booster for the fans
