'Micky has the safest job in football'

Iv been out of the UK for a while so whilst I still love Vale, I have zero sentiment towards Vale current players and Mickey Adams. However, I do feel that Mickey is a good league 2 manager, and given the right backing will get Vale promoted. Although, I do have doubts whether he could manage any higher as I think and have always thought his teams are a little one dimensional and get found out easily.

However, despite thinking we could of got a better manager than Mickey, Im quite pleased he is back, but not on the terms that he has.

For me he walked out on Vale at a crtical time, then failed at Sheff Utd, and I firmly believe that the only clubs that would have been interested in him would be the smaller teams in League 2. So to offer him a deal on better terms to my mind is absolute madness. Therefore, I think the board of offered him a similar deal to his previous contract, or an incentive based contract.

Furthermore, he gets a place on the board and is not financially liable. To me only at Vale would a manager walk out on the club, fail in a higher division, and then get a new improved contract with a place on the board. It just doesnt make any sense to me, it's ridiculous.

Anyway to sum up my rant, I bet Mickey feels he could fall into a barrell of s**t at the moment and come up smelling of roses.

Pretty much as objective a view as I have read.

Micky has got the safest job in football now, already it was pretty safe as Vale fans in general have low expectations. 2 seasons of finishing in the mid-table of the 4th Division and many vale fans think Micky is our best manager ever.

Now he's a director he is virtually unsackable, he could go on a massive run of bad results and it won't matter as he'll have to be in the board meeting that discusses his sacking and Bratt and Oliver won't have the balls to sack him in those circumstances. Also Micky will be able to vote to keep himself.

It's one messed up situation.

Spot on.
