'Micky has the safest job in football'

Just reaing the people sports supplement and there is an article on micky adams having the 'safest job in football', due to his directors role.

Interesting quote apparently from micky, though you can take these articles with a pinch of salt...

"People have spoken to me about buying the club, or whatever, and I'd be willing to act as a figurehead if necessary"

"I guess it means that if we have a couple of iffy results, I might not be under quite as much pressure!"

If the Vale go into administration he will lose his job the same as everybody else :( and face a law suit for being a director of a company that has turned away investment.

Hes probably right - look at Dario - Crewe fans had to put up with loads of "iffy" results and he still kept his Job whilst interim managers like that icelandic bloke got the boot.

Adams should be under pressure from those fans still attending matches imho, if we get one iffy result never mind a couple. Hes assembled a "cheapskate" squad with his V2001 boardroom hat on, so hes in the same boat as the burslum 3 in my book and deserves all the stick he gets if and when it goes t i t s up.

To be honest, Micky was untouchable, but becoming director has probably had the opposite effect for many fans. I think if we have a bad start then fans will be less patient than they would have been.

As for fronting a buy out? What is that all about? Probably paper talk I expect.

I can't imagine Adams being too eager to part with his money.Like most Yorkshireman he probably has short arms and deep pockets!!

I agree but he did say he might invest 50k in new shares to help the club, so being a Yorkshireman he should be good to his word ===

If he hasnt got the safest job then there cant be many safer..

All good for the club as the players know where they stand.

This veiled criticism (not from oroginal poster as he just pointing out paper talk) is a joke. Mickey has worked hard to assemble the squad, hes laid the law down to all the players and left 3/4 players who made the wrong headlines in no doubt that they are in last chance saloon.

Does he have a safe job??? no more safer than anyone else, can he be sacked? yes.....will we need this discussion??? in my opinion NO.

Whilst i wanted MC's investment what i didnt want was fancy dan managers who dont know this level, we have an excellent honest manager who takes no crap from anyone, not players, fans, board members and especially not daft press reporters.

I read numerous quotes from people about how Mickey "betrayed" the fans....tell me how exactly did he "betray" the fans....i dont remember him making any promises in the first place.

I get the feeling some fans are hoping for Mickey to fail so it gives them an excuse to kick off, but i bet my bottom dollar those very same fans will lick Mickeys bum if he pulls a promotion off come May 2012!!

Micky has got the safest job in football now, already it was pretty safe as Vale fans in general have low expectations. 2 seasons of finishing in the mid-table of the 4th Division and many vale fans think Micky is our best manager ever.

Now he's a director he is virtually unsackable, he could go on a massive run of bad results and it won't matter as he'll have to be in the board meeting that discusses his sacking and Bratt and Oliver won't have the balls to sack him in those circumstances. Also Micky will be able to vote to keep himself.

It's one messed up situation.

am afraid as long as directors have acted in the clubs best interests for wot ever reason they will get off

mickey was not a director when all this took place so will be ok as for the others who knows======
