slip roads and right of way

And blocking box junctions is a real pain - especially the one at the end of Jenkins Street when coming away from Vale.

It would help if there was actually a box junction there! The yellow paint on this particular junction faded a long time ago and is barely visible. Strangers to the area probably won't even realise it's a box junction. The box junction towards the top of Waterloo Road is the same. If it had been road markings on a speed camera trap it would have been maintained and repainted immediately.

There is always absolute ***** on the a500 when trying to get on from the a50 roundabout. I have seen three accidents in 6 weeks there because of aresholes who won't pull over in the second lane and the car on the slip road has to virtually stop to prevent an accident, but ends up causing one !
Very poor junction for the amount of traffic, especially with the poor vision from the slip road. Should be 3 lanes, or the junction further on but then there is an exit.

It's the ones who drive down motorway/dual carriageway slip roads at about 40mph that get me. Everything else already on the road can legally be doing 70 and these people try and join it at nearly half this speed.

that,s my main gripe as well, plus cars travelling in inside lane at less than 60mph so lorrys are forced to overtake, should be minimum speed limit for cars

Two points:

In New Zealand they have road signs where slip roads meet main roads. It shows a picture of a zip. It's clear what the meaning is and everybody abides by it.

Secondly, I live near the M3. There is a 50mph speed limit which is enforced by average speed cameras. My preference when traffic is merging from the left is to move over and let them do just that. But as everyone else is doing the same speed this becomes problematic. So I'm stuck in lane 1 with the only option is to slow down and let them in. This then creates a jam behind the junction. Here it is clear that an enforced lower speed limit has actually caused a hazard that normally wouldn't be there.

I've always been in mind that you should give cars a priority that are merging as you will have a better view of them than they do of you. I've no idea if that is correct with the Highway code in mind, but it feels like a safe method.

I think lots try to do that, but it is more difficult when there only only two lanes. Just because it is a right of way it does not mean it must be insisted upon, it is more considerate of other drivers needs, as we would hope to be considered when in the same position. Obviously traffic densities/speeds affect tactics, varying from a swift merge to a slow jostle.
