Sat 24th Oct 2015, Burton A v Port Vale, pre-match comments, the match itself

Burton are near the top but its more of a weaker league than them being outstanding, I feel we have to play Uche as he is inconsistent but on his day our biggest threat. Hopefully Moore is back, I am not sure what his injury is but need some pace if Andoh is out.

We have done so well at home against on paper better teams than we have played away and beat the two pre season favourites, drew the leaders and the like and yet away from home against fairly meh opposition we have been really flat and poor so its needs addressing and approaching the way we approach games at Vale Park. I believe of the 16 goals we have conceded in the league also only 6 have been in open play so the set play issue is really hitting us hard!

If Andoh is out for a while, this could be a good chance for Sam Kelly to get a run of games. Not been to impressed with what I have seen of him, but its early days I guess.

well apparantly he is garbage according to a lot of folk on here, so once some ovf users have spoken i wouldnt play him, theyll all be wrist slashing.

Burton are reported to be on a goal drought having not scored for 3 games, I believe we can resolve that for them quite easily with a few corners!

Burton haven't won or scored in their last three games - so its absolutely odds on with Vales usual generosity that we can put that right for them

Crewe got a point ......... so we will see how we compare to the worst team in the league

According to the BBC stats (which Michael so loves), Burton absolutely battered Crewe with 24 shots (7 on target) to Crewe's 5 (1 on target), they hit the woodwork and the Crewe goalie pulled off a number of good saves. Burton are my local team so we need at least not to lose to them, it's bad enough them being near the top of the league.

We've got Duffy back so I expect the defence to be tighter Phil. It would be nice if we scored though.

Looking forward to this one as I do for all games

I know Page is coming under a lot of pressure and every one has an opinion but I do think that the team and I mean the whole team are at fault and to blame as much as Page, for those that didn't have the pleasure of the Blackpool game in the paint tin trophy and that was against BlkPool reserves as well, Bury away etc. then in comparison to Wigan Burnley Peterborough etc.

Or do the management take responsibility for that re motivation.

At the moment we are solely / sorely lacking consistency, so it just depends which team turns up.

I forgot to add the Blackpool game was on the back of the Sheffield result and only 2 changes made to the team....so what happened ?

Went to see the Burton Crewe game the other night with a brewer friend of mine. Poor game but Burton did create lots of chances against a very defensive Crewe team although failed to take any of them. Beavon their main striker pulled out 10 mins before the game with an injury he seems to be the only one really finding the net with any regularity so hopefully he isn't back by Sat.

The only thing that did concern me was their quality of service form corners always in the mix which will be a worry with our defensive record.

Crewe did have some joy the more the game went on. Burton in search of goals at times over committed men forward and resulted in some glaring misses from crewe, shame Andoh wont be fit to take advantage.

Overall saw nothing that made me think we will be outclassed by the team sitting third, so long as Page gets the lads fired up.
