So? Must it ever be thus? Because we once had a referendum on it, a party shouldn't be allowed to put it in their manifesto? I imagine some may have changed their minds now, including many Labour voters. Their reasons for doing so may be pragmatic rather than due to some new found desire for democratic representation but the fact that UKIP got nearly 4 million votes, an 1/8 of all votes cast, but ended up with 1 seat might change a few minds. In fact, I imagine that only tories (and perhaps the SNP) would want to keep it now.

 

I merely pointed out that we recently had a referendum on fptp..I gave no reason not to have another although personally I think it too soon

I have to pick up on this 80s Marxist Labour tabloid nonsense. The Overton Window has shifted so far to the right over the last 30 years or so that what was moderately right wing in 1982 is now radical socialism.
