Something Different - Your Trips To Nottingham

Recommended Posts

Nottinghham is one of my favourite away days

I remember playing County away about 7 years ago, train to Nottingham, pint by the station, in hooters by 11 and on the stella

happy days

I think I went that one if it's the one under Foyle where we won 1-2 - crackin day and the first 'summers' day of the year in April.

We barely won an away game that year so it was like a cup final atmosphere after!!!

I work in Nottingham and really like the place.

My opinion is that the County fans seem relieved that it's not their club that are getting the attention for being a soap opera at the moment. Wish I could say the same.

The Forest fans seem nervous but so would I when the race for the Premier's so tight. I'd like them to go up but don't mind if it's Cardiff or Swansea just to make a change. Expect that the police would want Forest to go up unless they want the overtime.

I wouldn't go in the Bentinck for a pint as there's the Vat and Fiddle nearby which attracts a crowd more interested in having a decent pint. The Bentinck seems to attract the more 'lively' types…and broken windows if one of the Sheffield teams is in town.

banbell, didnt you suggest on another thread that you followed vale home and away to certain games exc forest as opposition ? because this thread kind of suggests you don't or havent !

just wondering why you semed to take such a strong stance against the vast majority on here ?

anyway re your question yes i love nottingham on a matchday and also for a night out but havent had one of them in nottingham for years . last time we played county we were in spoons town centre for breakfast at 9 and had a right good session up unitil the ob went power crazy , thankfully thyey didnt round us up until 2.20 and then escorted / dragged us to the ground. the game was pants and we lost .

county have enjoyed my presence a few times and i think i have seen 1 defeat , 1 draw , 3 victories so generally a happy hunting ground. forest is one of the few grounds i have never been to and i have managed 84 league grounds over the years , hopefully one day i will change that and we will break that bogey team hoodoo you have had over us.

I seem to have got off on the wrong foot with a few of you on here so a total change of tact, a nice friendly thread that hopefully will not turn into a Board/Mo/Takeover squabble.

Have many of you many memories to our nice City of Nottingham??? Been to your place a few times (with Forest), can remember playing you at your place not long ago in League 1, always a decent away trip although the town centre seems a bit on the rough side and some of the pubs appeared to be frequented by some dodgy types.

Always seem to see you take a good following to County, couple of times I've been in the Bentinck (pub opposite Nottingham station) for a quick pint before getting the train away to watch Forest and it's been packed out with Vale going to County.

Anyone given Hooters a pre-match visit? :wub:===

Hello Banbell. Yes I've done five Vale away trips to Nottingham in recent years (three times Forest, twice with Notts County).

It is a quality day out (and night out for that matter). I ventured to Hooters on a couple of occasions, was pretty decent, albeit expensive drinks prices, which is to be expected really.:D

Been to 'ye olde trip to Jerusalem' a couple of times aswell. Oldest pub in the country I believe... (Or in the World?) Also the McDonald's by your ground probably has the fastest service ever!!

Remember when I went Forrest for our last game in what is now the Championship.Crap game, we lost 2-0, and remember it was £20 to get in, when it was about £12 for the Vale, and they were advertising season tickets for the next season for £50!!!, no wonder you went bust. Went down with 6 mates but only 2 of us went the game cause of the cost, think we took about 300 into the match yet there was apparently hundreds drinking in the town centre during the game who weren't going to pay that sort of money for a needless game.

No mate, Forest through and through, watch Vale when Forest are not playing. Off to Swansea early tommorow for the big one, down the Vale on Tuesday though, 1st time this year so should be intersting to gauge the atmposhpere/team under Gannon as I've not seen Vale play since last November (apart from Forest v Vale reserves at the City Ground when I attended with Mickey Adams in the Directors Bit)

Actually, thinking about that, although Ive been in the players lounge/mixed with all the Forest players etc over all the years, the only time Ive been in the Directors Lounge / Seats at Forest is when I went with Micky that night.

He is, quite rightly, remembered fondly at Forest, by the staff from his time at the club.

Mr banbell, I am intrigued you still have not answerd my question--------

Sir,

Could you tell me what your interest in our club is,being the organiser of a Notts Forest fanzine it intigues me why you have such stong feelings about our club

I'm not a bull****ter, I have an interest in Vale for various reasons. Not going to bang my drum, attended the Forest Vale reserve game in November with your then manager, anyone who doubts that im sure will have it confirmed by someone that he was at the match with a.n. other e.g. me. A lot of other reasons as well, not going to going into them at this point in time as I have no motive, just to join in the banter/debate of a decent football forum.

I have fond memories of Nottingham.I was in digs in Sawley whilst I served my first year apprenticeship.I had my very first pint of beer in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem and Forest were my second team back then.

Fantastic pub, had a few pints in there the other week when we went to see Peter Kay, could have stayed in there all night.
