i have no respect shown towards me...for what i believe, so please enlighten me, and tell me why, i should have or show any towards james mcclean? you dont make sense. ive asked numerous times for yukon and hobblesworth to answer my questions, they wont, there for, i am right, they are wrong, you should now close the debate.

This, to me, isn't really about the heinous acts committed by the IRA or the atrocities committed by the British Army. It's about whether a man should be obliged to metaphorically bow down or show respect to something he doesn't believe in.

 

Nonsense. It is about heinous acts which he is using as a reason to disrespect the symbolism of the poppy. Whilst supporting the IRA whom committed the same heinous acts on British people. Hypocrisy at its finest and proves hes a complete scumbag, yet you continue to defend him.

I should also point out that, contrary to popular belief, he didn't turn his back on the flag during that friendly (why the hell are they singing the national anthem at a West Brom friendly anyway?), he merely didn't turn round and face it. A subtle difference but in my opionion, a significant one.

The day we feel people MUST sing the anthem or MUST bow to the flag/poppy etc is the day we become a little less "British"....I'll always sing the anthem, wear a poppy etc but I respect anyone's right not to do so.

 

James McClean is entitled not to bow to the flag etc for whatever reasons he wishes..it would IMO be more disrespectful to pretend to show respect just to appease those who criticise him.

you clearly havent looked up your information. the national anthem was played because it was a pre season tour in the US. the american national anthem was played, and everybody respected it, the british national anthem was played, and james mcclean turned around with his face, facing the ground, check the video out yourself on youtube, you are quite very wrong on this occasion :):):):)

 

the other west brom players are showing respect by singing to it, james mcclean is quite clearly dis respecting it.

surely from that picture........even you cannot say that is disrespecting the national anthem?

may i also point out from that picture, west broms number three, jonas olsson is swedish, born in sweden, yet arms behind his back, respecting the british national anthem, james mcclean facing the opposite way, who is irish, face down towards the ground not respecting the anthem.
