Sounds good in principal BUT.....

 

1. It will only work if people know the facility exists (so decent signs and publicity is a must)

2. Is there a good reason why the tickets can't be sold in the week(s) leading up to a match rather than just match-day?

Excellent idea. However, who'll be monitoring this? Who will be taking the money and distributing the tickets? How will they know how many tickets have actually been sold? The tickets are usually printed off in the ticket office with specific seat and stand arrangements. Will they just print a load of random tickets off (so many for the Paddock, so many for the Lorne Street) etc.. and do it that way?

 

If it can be implimented well, and it runs smoothly, you'd be surprised how many people may actually consider going when they otherwise wouldn't. You're in the pub, you've had a few, it's 2:30pm. Your mates ask if you're coming the game. 'I can't be arsed queue up for ages. Too much hassle'. Problem solved for those people by purchasing their match ticket as soon as they buy their first pint. This will may not necessarily massively reduce queues at the turnstiles, but it'll certainly have a huge effect on reducing the queues at the ticket office.

If there proves to be a demand, why not look into a small remote ticket machine?

The queues at the turnstiles aren't really a problem. Even when there's a long queue you move fairly quickly.
