geosname 319 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 Or a manager that should have realised that before signing 17 midfield players that we had no strikers before the budget was spent. Perhaps its a new "pack the park" interpretation
Bea Smith 50 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 Catch 22 for Smurf is, he needs to appear to have very little money to spend to agents / prospective signings and loads of money to slosh around to fans. This is a precise reason why fans need to be mega-patient, trust the owner and manager, and not expect to be told every financial detail of the club. By expecting to be kept informed and being gossips of the worst kind, some of our fans have probably made sure we are worse off and agents can up their demands, or in the worst case that we might miss out on a player. Up to about 10 years ago, or probably less, the demands for explanation about how the budget has been spent or allocated were unheard of, and in the days of Bill Bell the old wheeler-dealer (polite version) would just have given the fingers to anyone who dared to question what he was doing with what he saw as his own money - Smurf is much too tolerant. Valiant62 82 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 If it appears he has very little money would agents bother talking?... unless they were getting desperate. Releasing the budget details surely tells everyone what you have so no need to create false appearances. If you're playing poker, you don't want the other guy knowing your hand.
