Waterworld womens night controversy

Recommended Posts

I have being to many functions that are aimed at a specific parts of society and have included a strict dress code.

Various Functions in the Sgt's Mess

God knows how many Stag Do's & Reunions

St Georges Day River Cruise along the Thames (All blokes in suites & red rose in the lapel)

Various Fancy Dress Parties

Specialist Clubs in Soho (I made that one up)

Vale Away at Gillingham (Everyone had to wear waterproof clothing(that ones true))

Don't see the problem really.

What are the non Muslim women supposed to wear? Do they have to buy a certain outfit, or are they ok to wear pyjamas like when you used to fetch the brick from the pool floor at school? Then, what if, God/Allah forbid a child turns up in Peppa Pig pyjamas.

There is a specific costume which is more covered but I'm not entirely sure exactly what it looks like. However they are not allowed to wear it on normal opening times.

I can't see the issue with this.

It allows Muslim women to enjoy the waterpark without going against their culture. It's for one night.

Undoubtedly there will be some who will will try to cover their xenophobia up with comments like the original post. I don't see how this is causing divisions.

And I'm still disappointed Mr. Chaudry didn't succeed in his bid to buy us. He would be a great chairman.

It's a sad state of affairs in the UK in 2015 when a section of the community feels the need or are forced to dress in "Culturally and islamically appropriate clothing for the event" at a water park where there will only be women present. Surely a much more enjoyable experience would be had if all women at the event could wear clothing appropriate for the water.

Is it appropriate this day in age to exclude every other culture and religion and would it be deemed unacceptable do you think for Christians to do the same? It throws mud at everything that this country is supposed to promote in Equality and diversity and could be the start of a worrying trend

It's a special event organized so a certain section of the wider SoT community can enjoy Waterworld for one day who otherwise would not do so...a good thing. If it's well attended then I guess Mo will make a decision as to whether to have more such events.

We should be proud that we are a society that tries to include people..after all what should we do..be like various middle east countries and ban what isn't 'our culture'? Some on here have suggested we should model ourselves on such societies.."they would not do this for us so why should we do this for them?"....seems odd wanting to be like the very culture that they condemn.

There are some Christians who wouldn't be happy going to the nudist night. Why haven't you complained about that? The women's only swims discriminates against half the Christian population. You could argue neither of those events promotes equality, or you could argue it enables it. I do find it hilarious to hear you promoting equality and diversity though.

Those points lack any common sense or any realism. Anyone can go to a nuddy night if they so desire, I doubt some muslims wouldn't be happy going to a nuddy night. From your analogy to swimming the existence of different toilets for men and women discriminates but in civilised countries it's the norm apart from the odd Taverna in Greece.

My point was in response to Carl's ridiculous post. He was talking about the event excluding every other culture and religion. The event is open to all women, though all may not want to attend, just like a nudist night. He talks about equality because it requires a certain dress code (not a certain religion) yet isn't concerned about a nudist dress code, or lack of.

I don't think different toilets discriminates at all, I'm not sure why you think I would. I'd be interested in Carl's opinion considering he new found interest in equality.
