Andy Hill

Spunk Trumpet

Recommended Posts

A favourite of mine during the 90's. Made his debut against Sjoke at their place and as usual we won 1-0. Andy looked comfortable, played very well and looked like he'd been in our defence for years.

Best wishes Andy, try to stay positive fella.

I've nothing to add to that, spot on BB

Signing him was every bit as surprising and pleasing as Aspin and Glover! Very good player - better as a right back, I thought - from a great era for the Vale! He's on Twitter if you want to pass on your best wishes?

I've just done so on behalf of the OVF site. A very consistent and determined presence at the back. In fact, I reckon that as a relatively unsung Vale player, there could well be a cult heroes article appearing on OVF soon...

I loved that when Steve Guppy had to abandon his car and run the rest of the way to Vale before the Everton game, Andy Hill just called the police and got escorted there through the traffic.

Nice one, he deserves it. All the very best for the future Andy, certainly a class act wearing the Vale shirt.

I remember the game just before we bought him. It was the second leg of the League Cup at home to Huddersfield. We should have finished the tie off after winning the away leg but with a makeshift defence we lost on aggregate.

Rudge's response was to spend £300k and sign Andy Hill. He slotted in at right back and we beat Stoke 1-0 away in the next game.

Nobody particularly raved about how good he was at the time, in those days quality came as standard. We were being spoilt.

Class act, no messing - how we would like to see that back four on the park today. Get well

I love how the OVF site classes you as a brand new member even though you have been a member for over 11 years. Must remember to get on here and spout off every day about trivia.
