Nobody like Carlos Santana? I missed him off my original list,:doh:I've only seen him 4 times. With his band probably the most exciting I've seen.

Hmmm..I just think when you've heard few tracks you've heard all he does. he does it really really well but...again just not for me.

Still remember camping out at Knebworth in 1985 to watch my heroes. I had more hair then!

And the early line-up of Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord & Pace was sensational, as good as it gets. How talented were that lot? Gillan's voice was out of this world and Lord wasn't bad on the keys.

Slightly off topic - couldn't help myself - sorry.

Keith Richards was pretty decent in his time.

Blackmore for me, first concert ever went Deep Purple at Trentham Gardens . The Burn LP had just come out and I was sold.

First guitar hero Hank Marvin from the Shadows, still remember standing in front of the mirror with my Tennis Racquet.

More recently my mate got me into Joe Bonamassa.

Guitar players are overrated, as in the ones that drag out a song for ages. . They're only famous because we decide . I've never liked the self-centred 20 min. solo. Give me Depeche Mode , Pet Shop Boys any day. Dinosaurs are extinct.

Why are you reading a "favourite guitar players" thread if you don't have any? This is supposed to be a discussion area for like minded individuals about music, we save the aggro for the "Port Vale Present" forum. Just saying..... :D

I find Bonamassa whilst he has great technique and plays all the right notes is just spectacularly unoriginal and..well.....boring. He's a sort of word perfect actor in a Shakespearean play doing a great impersonation of someone else's great performance..he's a tribute band playing original material. Which I know makes no sense.
