Not conceeding goals is because of the defence and not much to do with strikers, although they do track back to help to some degree . Lack of strikers scoring goals is because of Pope and Williamson.

Pope has scored 1 goal, repeat, One goal in ten games.

Isn't the whole purpose of a football forum to debate and give opinions. If we all went down the line of 'Manager knows best' then OVF wouldn't exist....a forum which you are a regular contributor too.

Nor me! I previously tried to tell this poster that we are up for reasoned debate but Yukon seems to have made his mind up that because Page deems fit to not even put Campion on the bench is enough for us to stop querying why!!!

The majority are not saying he is a world beater or should even be starting, but that he should be involved in the match day squad because a) he is an out and out striker, and b) he has proved he has an eye for goal, including one for the first team from limited playing time. His work rate and team play may not be as good, but at 1-0 down on Tuesday with 10 minutes to go he may have made a difference.

The reason why weve won those games is our much improved defending. We nicked a single goal in 2 of the games which was enough. Against Donny 3-0 definitely flattered us & we could still be playing against Oldham & we wouldnt have scored.

Having seen most of Campions displays in the reserves I think I am happier if he was on the bench instead of either Daniels or Birchall, I don't understand why we have two wingers as subs and no reserve striker??

Agree completely.

 

I've seen campion twice, both as a sub and he scored in one of the games. He had a good touch and made good runs. No reason why he can't get on the bench over players who are blatantly not good enough like birchall.

In total minutes on the pitch, I doubt he's played much more than the equivalent of 2 games, so one goal in two games isn't a bad record.

I get your point, I really do and totally agree with the sentiment. My point is, there are constant calls for AC to play and I see two problems with it;

 

1- he isn't deemed ready by the gaffer

2- If he was thrown in and didn't cut it, he'd be slaughtered. All the potential in the world wouldn't change that

 

I'd love Campion to be a top striker & think there's a good player in there but his time will come and rushing him is pointless.

I also think we have a manager that one day will go on to bigger and better things. I'd like him to have the chance to take us as far as he can before he does. On that basis I think he should be allowed to manage the team in a way he deems fit

I like the way Page does things. He doesn't publicly criticise players. Tries to play decent football. I really hope that Campion turns out well but I don't know as much about him as Page does

I'm totally up for debating this and your argument is completely valid...It was more of a case that you were telling posters that they were talking nonsense based on the fact Page is the manager and see's the players everyday...

...but isn't that the case for every football debate that takes place on this forum?? Are all our opinions about the players "nonsense" simply because we aren't the manager? Should we therefore not debate football issues at all?

 

Your opinion isn't necessarily wrong...its the fact that you are saying everyone is talking nonsense because they aren't the manager.
