At Least One Vale Team Are Doing Well

Anyone remember Andrea Follett that used to play in the 90's.

She scored about 40 goals a game.

I grew up with her as she lived about 5 doors down and was absolutely superb. It was hard work growing up as a kid and getting hammered all day long playing street footy. Me and Dunny V Andi and always got battered!

That said, a parked car could skin me.

womens football first got brought to my attention by a lady called Keeley Brown, who played for the old pvfc ladies team. to be honest I owe keeley and another coach Keith mcdade alot for where I am today as it was probably there influence that made me give coaching a go in the first place. didn't expect to be coaching women to be honest but they deserve as much chance to play as anyone else, just need a little more support and hopefully now we have the very much appreciated support of OVF we could get that in the future now Vale fans know we exist :D

Women's football is pretty shocking, to be honest. Went to watch England women about 6 years ago, and it was one of the most boring games I've ever seen. I can't believe the teams keep turning up when they lose 10-0 or more every week, it can't be fun!

Not heard of Tunstall Town FC then?

What sort of support do You get from the club? I know our ladies teams don't even get this season's kits, which surprised me.

That's shocking. I'd have thought your lot would better support your affiliated teams.

Is this the same for your disabled lads, too?

(I was once offered a trial! :))

we get nothing from the club, we have fund everything ourselves and even have to pay for a strip ourselves that is just plain White with the vale badge on. everything the club does is payed for by sponsors or ourselves. we have already had one of our main sponsors pull out for next season and at the moment due to the economy, finding a sponsor isn't easy!

I think it's shocking too, yeah I wouldn't want too much money pumped in (no offence) but kits for Christ's sake? It's the very least I thought we'd do.

I haven't got the foggiest, I only know about the ladies team because the odd thread on the Oatcake pops up about them.

They did play at half time a year or two ago though and I don't think they did have the current kit. They also got beat 1-0 by Man Yoo who were all amputees (of the leg) and our lot all had 2. We could do with Your help going off that! ;)

It does surprise me that kits aren't even supplied. As I've put above it's the least I thought any club would do.

I help with a kids team and they have the same struggle every season with sponsors, it's a nightmare. Good luck to You this season and in the future! Except against Stoke of course! ;)

Thanks, Good Luck to both Stoke Ladies teams in the up and coming county cup final.

As for raising money im thinking of doing a bucket collection before the Southend Game in april as it is National Womens football development week but not sure what kind of support we would get or if BB would let us as its not easy getting in touch with him never mind asking for something

Ash Thompson was in joint charge in 2004/2005 before taking the team on by himself at the end of that season, Mick Barber was in charge in 2003/2004 season where they also did a clean sweep of trophies.

Only just noticed this, sorry. Still not convinced that's entirely true.

Vale have had nothing directly to do with the girls/ladies's teams for years - I can't remember what the circumstances were, but the community coaches used to train us, and all of a sudden, that stopped. I seem to remember the team having to change from 'Port Vale Girls' to 'Valiant Ladies'... Some kind of falling out between whoever it was at the club who set everything up, and who was running the girl's team at the time? It's a common theme, it isn't just Gannon. :D
