Certainly in my time as a Vale fan (first game in 89)

 

Thayst sayn nuthin, yewth. In 1956-57, we finished bottom of the old division 2, lost 28 and conceded 101 goals. Fortunately, I wasn't there to see it (first game in 1958-59). We can do a lot worse than this season!

I can't recall having so many poor defenders in a squad (in respect of the league that we're in) - only Veseli shows promise and is worth keeping (although even he makes goal-conceding mistakes), the rest of them need to be replaced with better (not including Nathan Smith, as he's not had a chance yet).

 

The fault lies primarily with Adams, who consistently failed during his second spell in charge to address the weaknesses, but Page isn't blameless - he's now 5 months in and, other than the Streete loan signing, he too has failed to improve this utterly woeful defence.

No I didn't Melv to be honest but I expected (or rather hoped for) a more innovative team selection. Surely when we're in a dip you have to take chances and see what players can do? The defence is rubbish and it is picked by a manager who was a decent defender himself in his playing days.

 

Some folks on here think that he could be a decent manager, MAYBE BUT A LONG, LONG WAY TO GO.
