That's the last thing we need a chairman poking his nose into something he knows little or nothing about, a manager, well an experienced manager must be his own man with a backroom staff that he knows and trusts.also having the nouse to form a squad of players who will and are able to play the way he wants with the chairman having the last word when it comes to signing players whether affordable or not. The idea of a chairman saying to a manager look I've bought you a player who will do you a good job and after a few days training the manager thinks where the **** did he pick that ****** from,i'm not saying that that is the scenario we have at the club but if it is we shall drop like a stone through the leagues, and be non league before the penny drops.

I notice you are not afraid to poke your nose in on things you nothing about. These are typical rumours that fly around all football clubs. Who knows what the actual situation is? Ideally we need a chairman and manager who work together in harmony, but remember it is the chairman who appoints, pays and utlimately sacks the manager.

You are absolutely spot on. I quite often go to away games taking in hospitality with a meal etc. I get to talk to staff at some of these clubs and I was told that our Chairman was heard saying at one club that he could not get any sway with Micky Adams but that he could basically control Page.

Which club? Did this person have an official role within the club?

Looks like 12 clubs in 11/12 years. If true, it's what you get when you sign butterflies, no loyalty whatsoever but he's done his bit for Vale whilst he's been here, good luck to the lad. All the more reason why it's important to sign Tom Pope, he wants to play for the Vale.

Maybe there's some deck-clearing going on so we can keep the people we really want to keep.

Not sure what the debate's about here. Seems to me that its the Chairman's signings who are leaving, which suggests Page is standing his ground in the relationship. Sounds good and how it is in most well-run clubs!

Yet the other week page said nguessan was a quality player... I'm not sure anyone at vale actually knows what they want, or what there doing.

Oh dear Ray. Fell out of favour with Bratt and co, deakin and now shoving the knife into Norman? Why not name these sources at various clubs who tell you this crap?
