One minute he's described as a quality player by page and the next minute he's going, same with nimely. Something dosent add up at all.

Despite the insistence that Page has the final say on signings, its fairly clear that Smurthwaite has brought in these new players and Page has either had a minor (if any) role in it or just gone along with it as he's new in the job - why else have so many not got near Page's team selections, or barely had a look-in?

 

Adams (or any experienced manager) wouldn't have put up with a chairman dabbling in the player signings.

Good. I would describe him as marginally better than Calvin Andrew. Rubbish in the air for someone his size and far too greedy. Is this mystery club daft enough to be offering us a fee??? Personally, if I was Smurf I'd be offering to pay his air fare.

Looks like 12 clubs in 11/12 years. If true, it's what you get when you sign butterflies, no loyalty whatsoever but he's done his bit for Vale whilst he's been here, good luck to the lad. All the more reason why it's important to sign Tom Pope, he wants to play for the Vale.

You are absolutely spot on. I quite often go to away games taking in hospitality with a meal etc. I get to talk to staff at some of these clubs and I was told that our Chairman was heard saying at one club that he could not get any sway with Micky Adams but that he could basically control Page.

Not sure what he is hoping to achieve though, signing cheap players who aren't ready to play i the first team is not going to get us into the championship.
