Vale v Spurs This Saturday

Recommended Posts

The original Spurs game is on this video clip for anyone who wants to compare that one with the programme on Saturday.

Apparently, according to Fielding folklore, we were filmed at the game but it was on the Grandstand programme half-time scores bit (as the reporter commented, the camera zoomed in on me and my dad having a flask of coffee and my mum got half a dozen phonecalls as a result) but I've never seen that footage....

I got my mush on the telly....we had a banner with "White Hart Slain" on it in the Bycars.

I remember there was a great atmosphere in the town well before kick-off, and I'm sure a flare was launched from the Spurs end when they scored.

Spurs nowadays would rather try and finish fourth best in their league rather than win an FA Cup - sad times.

You'll be glad to know then, Smithie, that for a week after the game, on a certain mid-Cheshire classroom blackboard, that phrase from your banner remained, untouched, in multicoloured chalk...

Good job I copyrighted it for £1m then....where's my dough?

The Bycars was bouncing that day, and the play-off v The Gas a year later was good too.

O

On Radio Times website it says,

"About this programme (11am - 12pm BBC Two)

New series. Guy Mowbray presents a look back at memorable goals and upsets, featuring players and clubs that have written themselves into the history of the famous cup competition, including York City v Arsenal from 1985 and Liverpool v Havant & Waterlooville from 2008."

Does'nt mention Vale ?

I was there, i was standing on the Lorne Street terrace, in front of the directors box where Ossie Ardiles was sitting, Spurs manager Terry Venables would’nt let him play, Because the Vale pitch was very heavy,

Rudge had got the fire brigade (next door, to water the pitch – to help our team)

Dirty Trick – LOL
