Hi all, noticed in the Sentinel that BBC are showing the Vale Spurs FA Cup clash, BBC2 at 11:00, should be a nice warm up for the derby game and certainly one of my best memories, I was serving soldier at the time and traveled back from Germany to watch the game.

One of my all time favourite memories that game. Must remember to watch/record that. I still have a Betamax video tape of that and the watford games. Great times eh.

I've seen the programme footage (Sky, I think) and it's grand.

Do record it, if you get chance; and, apart from the glory and excitement, marvel at how multi-coloured everybody's jackets were!

One of my favourite lines came from Jimmy Hill when he listed Grew's previous clubs and said '...but I bet Terry Venables wished he'd never heard of him!'

 

The best Jimmy to make comments on that game as opposed to that other pillock! :)

I got my mush on the telly....we had a banner with "White Hart Slain" on it in the Bycars.

 

I remember there was a great atmosphere in the town well before kick-off, and I'm sure a flare was launched from the Spurs end when they scored.

 

Spurs nowadays would rather try and finish fourth best in their league rather than win an FA Cup - sad times.

I was there, i was standing on the Lorne Street terrace, in front of the directors box where Ossie Ardiles was sitting, Spurs manager Terry Venables would’nt let him play, Because the Vale pitch was very heavy,

Rudge had got the fire brigade (next door, to water the pitch – to help our team)
