Pope going to Notts County makes more sense than him going to Millwall. Tom has said in the past that he won't away from the area because his family is settled, and when he was at Rotherham he still stayed in Stoke.

County isn't a million miles away, Millwall is a bit of a trek. Personally I don't think he'll go, I trust Smurf, and judging by the Veseli signing (despite what some on here he may think) he's quite good at negotiating... Pope will sign come the end of the season.

Pope wants to stay. If the club offer him a decent deal he will stay. He is our MVP and deserves to be our highest paid player. If they try to take advantage of his loyalty and offer him peanuts then he will leave.

It's clear that Tom would be happy to stay at the Vale rather than chasing the highest wage offer. Smurfs job is to try to keep Tom but on a salary that the club can afford which Tom Pope feels is adequate. Therefore, I believe offers from other clubs will be mostly irrelevant until Popey get a final offer on the table.

I am reliably informed Tom has turned down at least two offers significantly more lucrative than his Vale deal since we got promoted

Why would he want to go to a team that will be in the same division as other next season? Same goes for notts county.

Tom has to do what's right for him.he may well be a vale fan, living the dream of playing for the club he loves, but he's got a family to support as well.if county,or any other team did come in for him, all they would have to do is better the contract offered at vale and he would go because he cares about his family. Anyone would do the same.

I doubt that Tom is on hard times, try living off a normal working man's salary. I don't believe it's a case of the highest bidder, if Tom is genuinely happy at the Vale, where he lives and settled with his family, it would have to be an exceptional deal to give all that up. On the same footing Norman, don't take advantage of that fact.
