Lines v Dodds

Since people are debating the relative merits of Campion and Williamson, I thought I'd consider Dodds v Lines, although their roles are different, for selection, it seems to be a choice between the two.

Best passer: Dodds puts a better weight on the ball and is more accurate

Vision: Dodds by a mile

Speed: Clearly Lines

Tackling: Both hopeless

Goals: Difficult to say, but I think if he's kept in his current position, Dodds would shade it.

Heading ability: Marginal, but I'd go for Dodds when attacking.

Fitness: Not the strong point for either, although Dodds seems to have worked on it

Discipline: Lines loses the plot at times.

 

In his favour, Lines has an occasional good free kick.

Looking at the club stats, I was amazed that Lines doesn't have any league assists.

A fascinating choice - if we continue to play with a lone striker.

 

If we do, it has to be Dodds, who has an eye for a goal. Lines, for all his qualities on the ball, would struggle to score in a brothel.

If one of them had to be released, I'd keep Lines and let Dodds go.

Is it about who is the better player, or who is the most effective?

 

If we continue to play 1 up top then Dodds is far better suited to the No10 role, both as a creator and chirping in with goals as well as working back to assist the midfield.

 

In the promotion season he was the best partner for Pope, and most of our better results coincided with him being recalled by Page this season.

 

I also know he goes missing on occasions, but so does Lines

Neither are my type of player really,I much prefer players in the Porter,Taylor,Earle mould who gave 110% commitment every game.

However,when they wear the shirt,they will get my full support.

Do we get value for money from dodds? Didn't think so.
