Tough game but we can definitely get something, lines is back and personally even after the win yesterday he would be in my team.

Neal

Yates

Veseli

Robertson

Mcgivern (probably won't be fit but I don't want dicko there)

Brown

O'connor

Marshall

Lines

Nguessan

Campion

Pages 11 will be completely different but for me lines has to play even though dodds had his one good game, Williamson shouldn't start either. 2-1 vale.

This will be one tough match. I once posted on here that if Sheffield United played a team full of geriatric nuns they'd still beat us. They're our all time bogey team for some inexplicable reason. They're the team who inflicted our all-time record defeat of 0-10 and in 33 meetings across our history they've won 21, we've drawn 8 and we've won 4. Pretty rubbish really.

HOWEVER, they're not on red hot form at the moment and we're traditionally good on Boxing Day so let's hope for a rare victory over them. We need to attack them with a bit of pace because if we don't give them something to think about they'll just push up the pitch and inevitably beat us, we need to keep them pushed back into their own half as much as possible.

I live on the United side of Sheffield and listening to the Blade fans you wouldn't think they were in the semifinals of the Capital Cup and Play off spot. Constantly moaning about the negative approach Clough adopts. They are one nil specialists they keep telling me. If tickets are available they expect to take 4 thousand to the game.

I actually expect him to name an unchanged side although he did say he wants to be more attacking at home so who knows,i doubt very much that Campion will start though,if he signs for us my guess is he will start at home to Gillingham on the 3rd.

Just a little concerned that Pagey is not having the players in on Christmas Day,he says it's a mental thing, but if they normally train the day before a match won't it disrupt their normal preparation?

When he says a mental thing it could be that he thinks the players will be in a better frame of mind and up for it if they are allowed to spend Christmas day with their families,it could turn out to be a good decision but we wont know that until after Fridays game

This could be a decent gate as a Sheffield fan said they had sold 1.5k tickets by last Wednesday so they were expecting upto 3k to travel:unsure:

Lets get in the mood for what is perhaps the biggest match left at Vale Park this season, only PNE might be a rival and talk Vale and not mid-table prem sides.

It would be great if the Blades manage to bring 3,000 fans and we could look at a gate of anything from 8,500 to 10,000, I suspect it will be around 7500-8000 myself but this will generate a good atmosphere and we should be up for it.

No doubt everyone will have their own team selection, I feel certain RP will keep more or less the same starting team as at Crawley, but I do hope to see something of Campion at some time in the match, and not just for the last 5 or 10 minutes.

As for the players having Christmas day off, I am prepared to trust our manager and his judgement, he knows them as people and we don't. We don't have any Gary Roberts anymore, so they shouldn't need babysitting.

Big up this game - if we win it could set us up for a rapid rise up the table and a successful 2015 that all Vale fans want.

I live on the vale side of the potteries and listening to the vale fans you wouldn, t believe in the last 2 years they had come out of administration won promotion and had a , goodfirst season in a higher division , and constantly moaning about the managers teams and unable keep clean sheets, the new manager has had a very good start and the football has been better. Then we have the chairmen who has been a breath of fresh air compared to the last lot, but not everyone has taken to him. Football fans hey. Happy christmas everyone

Happy Christmas to you to bertiepee, and a great post 100 per cent agree.

Just for the record, since taking over RP has the following league record;

Played 13 Pts 21

won 6 drew 3 lost 4

goals scored 19 goals against 15

That is 1.615 points per game, which over 46 games would give a total of over 74 points, (74.3) normally enough for a play-off place.

In none of those games have Vale conceded more than 2 goals, and we have been without Tom Pope for most of them, with other key players missing on occasion like last week.

Would anyone back any realistic alternative of an incoming manager to get more points in his first 13 games in league one ?
