I shoot from the hip... tell it how it is... oh no thats you

Why should I show any restraint... your a millionaire who bought a business and are now begging from its customers... or at least telling them they should stump up the cash so you dont have to.... why would I care if you take me seriously?

Well I will just pop down to the PVFC Money tree and take 190k down for the lights

The Football League are fully aware and involved with the Club to try and find a solution

A good FA Cup run would of dealt with this and other pressing issues but alas not to be

Maybe we should set a Fans funded scheme to help raise the money via The Supporters Club but I would not hold too much hope on this as last year that was tried to raise money for Lorne St and £700 was raised

Always open to suggestions

Melv, if you are right about the cost of new bulbs (although this seems to conflict with the figure NS quotes) do you know who could carry out the work and how much the labour would be?

I'm making a couple of assumptions here. First, that the lamps are 1kW single ended metal halide - the majority of sports installations I've come across are. Second, that there have been no failures of operating gear or other circuit bits and pieces which obviously have a replacement cost.

£190k does seem a lot though even if you needed to replace every single fitting. If that's true someone is trying to make a lot of money out of Vale.

Norman, if you're reading this I'd be happy to review the quotes you've been given. Just PM me and I'll get in touch.

The responses from Norman in the Sentinel story is exactly what he should have said last night. In truth he should not have replied at all as the Sentinel would have picked up on this thread and his reply to the newspaper would have given a lot of positivity towards him and the Vale's plight.

Hope you get a response from Smurf Mel and that you can help the club out.

We all know that Vale Park is a very old ground and has had very little real maintenance over the years and if the supporter's club was informed of all the items that need addressing I am sure there are fans who will have the knowledge to help keep costs to a minimum.

We all want what is best for our club and if we can't do what is required, someone will know a man who can.

Apologies for my confusion between you, Mel and Melv. Your offer should surely be taken up, unless Smurf has already taken my advice to stop reading his critics' comments.

However, you could email him or even call the club.

Just a thought, Mel might answer this. What sort of lifetime guarantee do the bulbs come with?

I wonder if the club has any record of when each of the bulbs were previously installed and what warranties they might have carried? Surely Mr Lodey would have that information?

I knew someone who used to work at the vale and he says that the floodlights cost 3 grand each, and said he had to change a few and its a nightmare.
