Pack the park.

Threads like this usually get shot down on here but he we go.

I really feel following smurfs comments and the money he has put in that we should pack the park. And target the next home match to get a big attendance. Rochdale at home. 15th November, there doing well should be a great game. Really think we should rally together and get those fans who are sitting on the fence at the minute to return and show smurf that the fan base is there. I'm sure many will say they can't go for whatever reason and that's fine , but as a collective let's show smurf that there is support for the vale out there. It will probably also be the first game that page has at home as the actual manager (unless we get a home cup draw). So common try and make this game the one that we all go. Up the vale.

With our miserable moaning stay at home fans pack the park for me right now would be 6500. I fear we wouldn't get that next game if we left the gates open AND advertised the fact.

When you see how many lower league clubs get after much strife, Plymouth, pompey ,Luton etc all who also came close to extinction it makes me weep.

I see people in the pub before games wearing vale shirts who are staying in the pub and have said so. Wtf is that all about?

I put this on FB yesterday, if anyone wants to join me feel free:

Ok an idea for the Rochdale Home game. I will buy 1 extra full price ticket, to be given free to an non regular fan. The idea though is that they then come the next home game. Anybody else who can genuinely afford willing to join me in gettin 1extra person to attend. Lets see if we can try and get 6-7000. Would be a start.

I don`t get some of our fans, they travel in numbers to fairly local games and moan about the price at home matches but at away grounds I have seen them throwing ridiculously expensive fizzy beer over all and sundry. Get your backsides down the Vale, for once I am in agreemwnt with Smurf, non attending Vale fans are as much use as a Stokie.

Nowt wrong with threads trying to make a difference and attract supporters to the ground. I applaud you for trying to make a difference and to help the club.

My only comment would be that anything like this, in my opinion, would work best with the club's support. There needs to be a date selected when there are no easy alternatives (such as Champs Lge on the telly), it's vital that an attractive option made (perhaps make all U18s free/have reduced admission on the day/money off voucher for the cup game/club shop or similar) and then everyone - the club, the press, sites like this, Facebook groups pulling together to push it all over the place.

I don't think it would work just on OVF (we aren't influential enough) or just online for that matter. Ideally, it needs to be everyone - the club, the fans, online, offline, local shops and pubs, local radio, local papers, local politicians all singing from the same hymn sheet so no-one can escape the message.

Then, having done all that, you just have to hope people will return.

and just to add to that - with a couple of weeks notice

I think ' Pack the Park' Day should be the Vale v Sheffield Utd Boxing Day fixture.Already guaranteed a decent crowd(2/3 thousand from the Blades).Slight tweak on pay on the day,I did say slight. All the kids are off school so tickets could be distributed to local schools.Free ticket to child if they bring an adult who could also go at a reduced rate.Turkey sandwiches instead of scabby burgers at the catering outlets.:D

It's also a good fixture to get a few exiles back as well as some of will be up in the Potteries visiting relatives etc. I do think one of the key things is to get the kids in. They (families) are the most likely to be hit by high prices and kids are possibly less likely to be going to away games only (certainly not by themselves or late night midweek fixtures anyhow). I think as Howjy04 says, it's crucial to pick the right game, to add some benefits and then try it out... Oh, and I also approve of the turkey sandwich idea, just so long as Vale don't play like Christmas puddings...

Nice idea but I would suggest that Boxing day could be risky as many people, myself included, will have family comittments during the christmas period and will be unable to attend on that day. Better perhaps to choose a day when there are no other obvious distractions.
