Thanks for the suggestions folks. Some of which I have come across. Was a big Neds/Wonder Stuff fan back in the day. Saw Cooper Temple Clause supporting Embrace years back and was quite impressed. Got loads of Cure stuff. Saw Gwar in Middlesbrough 92, but all that extreme side of metal is a bit much for me.

Will try a lot of the other stuff though, Friends have banged on about Miles Kane and Sigurd Ros so probably them first.

Blinkme - downloaded The 59 Sound the other night. A fine album. Great Expectations is a tune and a half!

If you like Pop punk try out Zebrahead. They are amazing. My musical taste is exactly the same as yours, so they'd be a good shout :)

Try songs: Hello Tomorrow, Anthem, Jagg Off, Into You and Postcards from Hell!

nobody should listen to zebrahead. ever. well maybe one or 2 tracks are ok as a guilty pleasure, but listening to them on a regular basis just doesn't even bare thinking about

there is so much good pop punk from the early 00's it's impossible to know where to start really. 'living well is the best revenge' by midtown is a great album as is '40 hour train back to penn' by the movielife. 'stay what you are' by saves the day is also essential listening

O. Dear. God!

Everyone should listen to Zebrahead. Best live band I've seen (and I've seen a lot of bands!) . Always put on a good performance. Guilty pleasure my ****, got 'em on right now ;) I don't see whats so bad about the. In my eyes they've not done a bad album to date (well I'm not all for the covers album but its decent). What's so bad about them?

pop punk is awesome and whilst rap can also be awesome - i do not believe a mix of the two can ever be awesome

Eeeeeeeeeeer no thanks!

Sigur Ros are brilliant and are a great band to get into for something different. The Hvarf/Heim double disc is a very good place to start.

Fleet Foxes not mentioned so far, they are well worth a look.
