Music Recomendations

Smallthorne Dog

Recommended Posts

Ive always been into my music but as ive got older ive kind of lost touch with the scene. Largely due to not going to as many gigs as i used to or reading the music press religiously. So im on the lookout for some recomendations of bands i might like?

My tastes vary from the poppier side of indie (Stone Roses, Shed Seven, Oasis, Embrace, Kasabian, The Music etc) through pop punk (Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41, The Clash) and Heavy Metal (AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, The Answer) to mainstream rock (U2, JET, Foo Fighters, REM, Janes Addiction).

Ive recently discovered Biffy Clyro and The Gaslight Anthem and really enjoyed them. So does anyone have any recomendations of new or old stuff i might enjoy listening to?

If you fancy branching out a bit more, could I suggest symphonic rock? Bands such as Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Amaranthe, Nightwish, Epica...all offer a more, complex, sound towards the rock and metal area.

if you have recently got into the gaslight anthem make sure you check out their 2nd album 'the '59 sound' - i think it's much better than the most recent one. even though american slang is a massive tune

good pop punk:

the upsides by the wonder years

some things don't wash out by you, me and everyone we know

good punk:

as the eternal cowboy by against me! (not new but awesome nonetheless)

good indie/rock:

manchester orchestra - any of their 3 albums however i prefer the newest 2. (mean everything to nothing and/or simple math)

an awesome uk band called tellison also have just brought a new album. either of their albums are worth a listen (the first one is called contact! contact! and the new one is called the wages of fear)
