Completely reasonable decision IMO. Its complete folly to assume that Page is a carbon copy of MA. He's widely acknowledged as being a leading coach in the game. lets see if he can stamp his own views and authority on the game. If he picks up the good bits from MA and improves the aspects which were not so pleasing, then he will by default be an improvement!

Would it be Pulis, his in Malaysia at the moment and I think that Cardiff are favourites to get him.

My view exactly. If Page doesn't work out we still have plenty of time before the January window (it's crucial to have stability by then I think) to act.

 

Why not try an appointment from within? OK, so Foyle and Glover were not roaring successes but John Rudge was while a club called Liverpool used it to some considerable success in the 1970's and 80's.

 

I don't think we've got anything to lose by trying out Page. It's early in the season and it would be unfair to give him any less time than the end of October, I feel.

 

After all, while people bemoan the fact that Foyle and Glover didn't work out, neither did appointments from outside the club in Sinnott and Gannon.

I agree it is the only sensible way to go. Plan B needs to be in place as soon as.

I do believe give page a chance but if we lose every game till the end of October we could be way adrift. after the next 3 games Barnsley Bradford and Fleetwood results haven't improved any then start looking elsewhere

Talking about the fans NS says ' Their vote of confidence is to come through the gates. That will also lift the players.' It didn't at Crewe did it ?

Have to say I'm not to impressed by what is coming out of this. Going down the youth route !! Is that why Micky left he's never used that in great quantity since he's been here.

I thought Norman came across very well, prepared to admit certain mistakes and lay out a clear future plan. Just hope in the transition to a youthful team our results dont suffer too much in the short term

The decent thing to do would be for Adams failed back room team of Page/Grew/Glover to have gone along with the Boss......Smurf should at least have a short list of potential new managers to contact or at very least should advertise the post as being open to applicants and see the calibre of

Managers interested and interview a couple of the standout applicants and not leave the season to drift further into troubled waters.

He's a walking contradiction that man, mentions youth in one breath, scouring for foreign talent the next. He offers soundbites and very little else in my opinion. I often just get the impression he's bitten off more than he can chew, hope I'm wrong but I see little by way of a coherent stategy....

 

There's a lot of FOREIGN KIDS who want to get in the game and can't go down certain routes.

Smurf is not rushing into an important decision and I am fully behind him on this. Get it wrong and we go down. Get it right and the season is back on.

 

This gives Rob Page 6 weeks to prove he is the right man. Fails and he is not given the job.

 

We would not have a new manager in place by the end of Oct anyway. One headline said there was already 41 applications. How many are from footy manager people and how many from managers out of work, who are not what Vale need to take them on.

 

Give Page a chance. You never know he could be the best person.
