Speaking to a bloke on holiday who said that his lad was with Billy Knott at West Ham academy. They tried to build a team around him they were that impressed with him but he moved on to Chelsea. He will definitely be playing at a higher level. I think we were lucky to have him on loan for the time we did but didn't really have much chance of signing him. I also think Bradford are lucky to have him but for how long.???

We couldn't afford him end of story. The lad didn't use us either he came on loan and did a good job. So good luck to both him and Hugill who I strongly suspect was offered 'peanuts' by us.

Despite our plethora of riches in centre midfield, Knott offers us something different with his willingness to put his foot in without giving fouls away and ability to pick the ball up from the centre backs and carry it. Neither O Connor nor Lines are as effective at this. Arguably Brown and Jennings are, but they don't seem to be getting much game time in the league at the moment.

 

Regardless of people's curious idea of what the loan system actually is and whether Knott "owes" us anything (of course he doesn't, he was never our player) we are a worse team without him.

I thought he played really well last night, Leeds did give him too much room at times but he used it well. It's a pity we couldn't hold him down as I think him and O'Connor would have been a good pairing. Oh well.
