Oldham Travel - Help!!

bar1

Recommended Posts

Been to the club shop this morning to book coach travel back from Oldham, only to be told they aren't putting any more coaches on, despite having numerous enquires this morning! Yes, I know its late but had to wait til today to see if I could get the time off work.

Anyways, last train back to stoke from Manchester is 9.45!! Anyone know of any alternative?

Thanks.

From Manchester City Centre you can get the Rochdale tram to Oldham town centre from Market Street (between Primark & Debenhams) or I think it's the 184 bus from Lever St which drops you outside the hospital, a short walk from the ground. Will have to check.

Victoria station is open for trains but not from trams. Trams run through Victoria but don't stop there due to works. If you get the tram or train it's a bit of a walk.

Cheers mate

Was thinking of going to the Shudehill stop and getting the tram to Freehold, then its a 15 min walk...? Yeah I checked Victoria, nothing happening there atm

Takes me about ten minutes from City Centre to Central Park where I currently work in a morning, Freehold is a few stops after that so I'm guessing around 20-25 minutes. I've never walked it from there to the ground though.

At the moment there's a bottleneck in the city centre due to the works at Victoria. There's a section of single line track and they have to pass a manual signalling token between the trams as they pass through.

All the Bury and Rochdale trams have to wait their turn in both directions so it might add an extra 5-10 minutes to your journey depending on how lucky you are.

Cheers, we'll just have to make sure we leave plenty of time before travelling over to Oldham. Think there's a few decent boozers around the ground so no issue.

Incidentally, Westwood is the nearest Metrolink stop to Boundary Park and not Freehold. About 15 min walk.... Also, for pre match drinks, Wellington/Sinclairs in Manchester central, near printworks and 5 mins from Shudehill Tram is traditional meeting place for Vale (and any other fans for that matter) if you get to Manchester early. Enjoy

Anyone planning on doing t'whole journey back on choo choo to Crewe, be warned that Mumps station is miles from Boundary Park.

I went to Crewe in an Intercity taxi from Hanley in April, and they charge a fixed fare of £20 for that. So if there's a group of four people it might be worth looking into that for a fiver apiece back to Stoke at night.

Hey I know a "Cast" in Manchester born 22-12-65..but he's not 6 foot 4 (maybe 6 1, unless he's shot up in his 40s!!!) and not 16 stone (well he wasn't anywhere near that last time i saw him). You two should meet up!!!

Life is full of coincidences

Meow dear John, meow.... it was merely satire and hyperbole dear boy! I once knew a lad known as Parrot who was born sometime in October 1965. He was about 5 foot 8 and 23 stone the last time I saw him. Moved to Devon I believe, only don't see him anymore as he never attends matches.

How are you anyway big fella?
