This story should be front page news all around the world. What an achievement. Ever wonder what we could have achieved if all the time and money we put into warring over imaginary lines or gods was put into science and space exploration.

 

Still, a truly awesome feat.

Will be amazing to find out the chemical composition of the dust and gas that trail the comet and even the constituents of the comet itself.

Still some risks as the harpoons apparently didn't fire to secure it to the surface but they can possibly fire them after landing

The sound coming from comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko has caught the imagination of hundreds of thousands on social media.

 

The scientists are just as surprised as social media users.

 

"This is exciting because it is completely new to us. No vacuum at the surface? There is some sort of atmosphere? I suppose there may be gases coming from it. I can understand vibrations in the comet that 'sensors' pick up as 'sound'.

Fantastic achievement. Hard to believe this has been 25 years in the making and they launched it 10 years ago to meet up with something travelling at 34,000 miles an hour and millions of miles away.

 

Yet we can allow millions of people to die needlessly through lack of investment in basic amenities for half the world, whilst at the same time making money out of these same countries by supplying weapons to all sides so they can kill indiscriminately.

 

Kinda sums up mankind to me.
