Michael O' Connor on Trial

Lines has just said that when he signed the contract he was told we would sign a number of players. Also said that obvious that we are really lacking in midfield. Seems those in the club are now starting to get a bit nervous, a statement from Adams the other day saying we need reinforcements and quick and now lines. Just hope we can sort some kind of deal out for O'connor, and then Jennings or guyonnet.

Lets hope we sign others soon now after missing out on O'Connor, lets not forget smurf says he wants the play offs this season, well gawd knows how we are going to manage that

I think Guyonnet might be a bit better than some think. I can only go from watching German lower level football, this was their 4th tier which was amateur about 10-15 years ago when I spent some time over there but the skill level was much better than our first amateur division which is basically the Conference North/South these days or 4 or 5 teams in the Conference National perhaps?

If the French system is anything similar and the video that someone posted the skill level didn't look too bad either. I will be just about whether he can cope with the demands of training 4 or 5 days a week as opposed to a couple of times.

I think the lower leagues of countries like France, Germany, Holland etc are perhaps a bit of an untapped market for our lower league teams. Remember we picked up Jalink, van der Laan, Snijders in the 90s. Obviously you have to have the scouting network though!!

If we're that skint then i'd go for two slightly less talented players rather that just O'Conner. Reason being if O'Conner were to do a Cuvelier then we'd be well short in midfield. Can't say it would be Jennings & Guyonnet though as i haven't seen them play.

People who have seen Guyonet play so far(albeit against poor opposition) say he has a touch of class about him so we will hopefully move onto him and with any luck he could turn out to be an hidden Gem

......scouting network.....that will be Grew......however Guyonnet looks like an interesting prospect being mobile with a good touch and

pass technical ability superior to the usual journeymen midfielder and at 24 could become something of a star player....O'Connor who?

Looks like we won't be signing Michael O'connor then.. another target gone which micky wanted.. i can understand about him not making the move to vale because of his 60 percent pay cut to move to us is huge and he has a young family and mortage to pay as well so. Maybe i think vale might start looking at cheaper players or players who are prepared for huge pay cut or maybe get a few loans in and let the parent clubs pay for their wages.

Perhaps if season tickets had been promoted more and the commercial department did what they are paid for then maybe we would of sold those 500 extra+

Promotion idea for season tickets:

Do you want a ticket? If answer is "yes" buy one.....

Shame about O'Connor as I really think he would have a superb signing, but the caveat would really be is that he has never completed more than 75% of league games in a season. With our very small squad we cannot really carry passengers and need to sign players with a a good record of being available for 46 league games a season. This is also a worry over Lines and Dicko who we will leave us in a pickle if they miss as many games as they did last season. It was obvious to me that O'Connor would not be signing when Micky said he was letting Smugswaite to do the negotiations. It was as if he was getting another excuse ready to say it's Norman's fault when we get relegated, as I am getting myself conditioned to.
